I ordered a replacement Stator/generator for mine from Electrex (mentioned earlier) nothing but grief, wrong diameter ignorant customer service and want you to measure everything.
btw I had already replaced my Regulator (piece of cake)

So I found these guys ( Westcountry Windings) and sent the 'original' Generator off to them.
It comes back (I went and got mine meself as Im an impatient git) like bloody new, in fact better in my opinion. they did a fantastic job.

then you could try my handy video too lol
it wont be Arthur of course, in fact its more Reg prescott! :)

My 04 gen went too, posted to WCW and had it sent back about three days later. Got my mech to fit it for me. I think it was £109.00 ish delivered.

P.s. Exactly the same symptoms as the OP.

well if it's any use,i have a rectifier (used but working fine) and also a stator (i have 3 in fact!!!) both off 05 bikes, again all working fine,i just like to break engines :)

if your interested they are going cheap,pm me.

i'll give the side case+stator/gennie as 1 unit to save swapping over if that suits.

Cheers all once again - Well and truly stumped now though..

Armed with a bit of overnight reading, i went and tested again..

3 yellow cables from stator ALL reading around 45-50v - Would have taken pictures but its hard enough seeing the multimeter screen whilst testing it!

Disconnected the plug from the reg that goes to the battery and i get the 13.4-14ish reading - would this discount the stator and reg being the issue?

I got to the battery, check the idle and its running around 11v, i suppose the battery has been getting a hammering with testing it from yesterday as well but then thought i would trace the cable, so by the battery i unplug what i think is the start solenoid where the main fuse is and BOSH I've got green stuff around one of the connections, look a bit closer and its the red cable so i clean it up, give it a drop of ACF as well as ALL the connections that come in to it.

Start her up again and the idle is STILL low?! Still aorund the 11.5 mark.

So my question now is, the connection from the reg to the battery must be corroded slightly and dropping the voltage by 2 or so, and not enough to charge the battery? Although before i take the tank off to see if there are any further connections in between - is there anything else i should be checking? Is something drawing power before it gets to the battery or should i re-charge the battery and check the idle voltage again?

tbh to me it does sound like the reg/rectifier not doing it's job.if you like i i'll send you down mine to try.

now not being funny but as i've been stung before lending stuff out,so i'd ask you to put 40quid in my paypal account,if it is this and you want it then keep it,if not just send it back and i'll refund you the money no problem regardless of if it is the problem and you dont fancy a s/h unit.

    Slight update today..

Recd the reg from Scooby, although the plug connector is different so can't run it.

Although I've tested the diodes? And the results are pretty similar to my reg. that being around .500-600 volts when testing the positive to each of the other yellow cables (reg side)

Is there anything else anyone can suggest checking? Is there a way I can check the start relay/solenoid and/or the grounding?

Going to charge the battery backup tomorrow so it's back up at 12.6ish volts.

Yeh, it was 11.6v yesterday and just checked and its still the same.

Anyway you think I can check the earth, will add tho, while the bike was running I was getting 13-14v ish direct from the regulator with the multimeter touching the neg on battery..

Hi mate. Sorry if I'm reading this wrong, but as Arthur said you should be getting a strong 70vac of the stator when the bikes at reasonable revs. Are you getting this?

Yeh that's true, it was around 50 ac and climbing, strange thing is I'm getting 13-14 dc volts when I connect straight off the reg with using the neg battery as a ground. Although testing the battery itself on idle it's 11.6ish volts.
