I think it may be stainless. A decent cutter and some of that there brute force coupled with oodles of ignorance.

He's talking about tthe exhaust flapper mod, and you're talking about the intake flapper mod.

    What can go wrong?

Ah, too much brute force and straight thru the other end and into the ECU or cylinder head....

Well i got my extension bar today. I managed to drill the pilot hole ok, but sure enough i blunted the hole saw. In fact i pushed so hard the bike moved off its side stand in the garage and fell up against my workbench, lukily no damage. Next stop, screwfix for a better 32mm hole saw.

Yeah ive wedged a block of wood in front of the rear wheel to stop the bike moving as i think that i would even move my paddock stand.

Yeah thats just one of the ways i park it in the garage depending on which way round i need it to face, this time arse facing towards the door, so it was leaning right next to the bench before it slipped forward. Luckily the bench is quite high so the bike only tipped a couple of inches over to the left leaning its weight on the work surface.

when you are down getting the hole saw get some
cutting paste, makes it a hell of a lot better and also
make sure you are running the right speed, too fast
and it will wreck the cutter.a STARRETT or BOSH drill
works best, I have drilled loads and the bits I have are
    still like new

Just done mine. Couldnt find my 32mm cutter so I used a 25mm instead. Piece o cake. Bike on its stand, 1st gear engaged and drill. No problems, went through in a couple of seconds, using a battery drill. Sounds quite a bit better, but i'll let ya know if it sounds louder on the hoof soon as I get chance. Recommended mod for a couple minutes work.

One more thing, dont bother looking down the pipe just after ya drilled them, blat the throttle a few times first. This will stop the cans blowing swarfe in your eye. Bugger.

Think I done the flapper mod too. Not sure, just pulled a tube off a flying saucer type thing thats right behind the flapper and bunged it with a M6 roofing bolt. Good tight fit.

Ok, been for a blast and raced back against the rain clouds lol. Defo sounds a bit fruitier, and with the flapper mod it dont sound as 'laboured' pulling away from lights. Great mod for £ fook all. :D

Oh dear. Been out on the bike for the first time after drilling the exhaust and i honestly think it sounds shite. No going back now. It sounds ok at idle, but as raspy as a cheap boy racers car with a fat exhaust when on the move.

If i cant get over the fact that i think my bike now sounds poo then my options are:-
Buy a second hand standard exhaust.
Cut the can open and risk gutting it completely.
Or buy a proper can and then end up probably having to buy a Power Commander to get it to run properly.
