Oh dear not good, Apparently scorpions don't need tunning after install and I never tuned mine an runs fine! I still have my stock can if you wanted to make an offer on it?
Thats the risk of going the "DIY" route..........I bored mine to 30mm and it sounds really good...............Or should I say.............Other people have said as they are the ones that can hear it behind me.
I just couldnt find a can i liked the look of and thought that Honda got this one right. I like the look of the chrome finish on the 06/07 can, although im not sure if this fits the 04/05. Im gonna look at getting the standard can off and take it to my local powerflow dealer to have the insides ripped out and welded back up. In the meantime i will bear yours in mind in case mine still ends up sounding poo. Dunno about price though as they vary quite a lot.
I did this on mine but cut it open and rewelded it as I didn't fancy swarf goin into thee nine, I must say I'm impressed how gd it sounds or free
I was thinking about cutting it open to remove the plate altogether since most others who done the mod say it sounds ok, therefore it must be something that I've done, such as the right hand hole not lining up very well with the right hand pipe. Ill have a go at removing the can later to have sorted by powerflow on monday, otherwise it will have to wait a few weeks when i'm not busy with work.
It's pretty easy to remove the can, not sure if you have done it before.....there's a guide on here some where..I'll have a looksy
Thanks, that would be handy Edit. Done. Simply remove remove the rear cowl and remove any bolts holding the exhaust on, then unbolt the right foot peg, plastic shield and remove the side heat shield to remove the exhaust bracket below the exhaust valve and then it's just a case of removing the 2 exhaust valve cables. Powerflow are closed today, but I should be good for monday to get it all back together.
I gutted mine then used perforated tube from ebay and acoustifil exhaust filler havent got pics but have them from my 848 exhaust mod. it works nearly the same way on the blade can has to be welded back together Gutting 848 cans
That sounds like its gonna cost more money as powerflow aint cheap and i need the bike back together for tuesday.
Well this is where I'm at today (Sunday). I cut around the rear weld of the can to split it in two. Then drilled lots of holes around the baffle plate to remove a large section of it as there's no room inside for a grinder. If anyone thinks that I need to remove more or thinks of any other ideas then let me know before I have it welded back together on Monday. This is the rear section coming from the exhaist valve.
could you cut or block them two trumpets in the top pic flush as they cause turbulence inside the can.you want to try and mod it so the gas gets straight through the can as quick as possible without air traps inside it.
I cant get in to cut the trumpets, but i can have powerflow weld plates over the top of them. In the mean time i have hammered the centre one flat'ish to reduce floe through the rear half of the can.
£40 later, they cut the 2 small baffle pipes down then welded shut all 3 to seal the baffle. They then welded a pipe to the perforated section to line up just before the 2 exit pipes. I'm gonna fit it back onto the bike later and hope for the best.
Yep, I think I answered my question the hard way. Having done 200 miles yesterday it sounds reasonably deep, but has quite a drone like a mildly muffled version of riding around with no can.
