It rains up there man!! i mean, seriously rains.... just dried out from Oulten last week. will be going back but got too much on at work at the mo...
Get on their case mate, did they say this in the briefing? I bet a lot of people moaned and groaned about it.What are they doing in that 40 minutes between sessions? Is there alot of marshalls on?
I don't do wet riding at all! Not for me and not into that level of bike cleaning and I like my bikes shiny (not to be confused with bling chrome)
Dude we digress.... Lets let the lads get back on topic as I don't want to kill the thread! Really interested in seeing folks views on this one, specially as a few are booked on in sept for a 4 session day.... Sorry moily....
Hijack away! It wasn't meant as an on-going topic as such, just a funny story and an observation. To their credit, No Limits gave everyone 25 mins for the last session to take it up to 5pm. And what a session it was!! The penultimate session (i.e the first one after lunch, starting at 3pm ) was PACKED. and I mean PACKED. We were sure loads of Fast groupers blagged their way into it as it was absolute carnage with lots of very fast guys carving up an already-busy group. Way too much traffic of differing abilities made it a proper brutal session. People diving in on Druids and parking themselves on the apex, 4-a-breast at Surtees, etcs. But the last session was so good as it was only half as busy, which the last sessions normally are but I expected this one to be reasonably full still given it was only a 5 session day and surely people wouldn't hang around 2 hours just for one more session, but that must have been the case as it was noticeably quieter. Still got carved up, mind, but that was from some bloke on a Gixxer 750 tracker who's RACING at Brands next week and could only get into the Novices! Personally speaking, I'd rather pay £20-35 more and keep it at 7 x 20 min sessions but I can understand No Limits' reasons for trying to keep it affordable to all. Going to have a think but the track is so good am tempted to stump up for the 19th Sept TD.
Oooh I wanna come too Moily!!! I won't ride in the wet but if I leave it too long to book I'll miss out and it's an expensive day to not participate.... Is it really that good?
Yeah, I think so. Snetters is great but could do with some undulations or gradient changes to add a bit of spice. Brands GP gives you that in spades (Paddock Hill Bend has to be one of the best bends on a UK track!) as well as a nice sojourn through the woods and enough blind corners to really make it exciting! I know what you mean about the weather in September, but we're usually ok then. They had adverts up for the final round of BSB on October 20th!! There's the very definition of optimism!
Ask many racers mate and they will say paddock is one of the best in the world!! It's mega.... Was at a q&a at the bike show and Troy Bayliss said it was his favourite but also the scariest corner he'd raced. Not bad for your local track lol....
Was that gsxr750 a black one by chance, if it is I think Barneys bikes are supporting him.He was fecking quick everywhere.
+1 great corner that. My first track time there I was taking it too wide, cos the beaks said theres where you need to be yellow cone and theres where you exit red cone.Novice session.Load of bollox that was, I now skim the pit exit line and drop in after following the two only bikes that overtook me.Great un-nerving corner that.
Nah just the usual blue/white scheme. Not sure what race he's doing, will have to have a google. Know what you mean about Paddock Hill. I think the line you took is the fastest, too. No cones out today, but didn't miss them there as I had done Indy a few years ago.
Different line to me, I stay high and on the power as long and possible and hit the crest of the hill way left almost feels like you're hitting the grandstand, then drop in and apex it down the hill, IMO carry more corner speed and can carry a smoother power out at the bottom (you don't want to be harsh or you tie the rear suspension in knots coming out).... But that's just me, and I've seen quicker guys through there, so be interested to try your line out.
You don't know undulation changes till you ridden the corkscrew at Anglesey... my top circuit I think and luckily only 2 hours from my door. Even in winter being its seldom affected by frost , just sea spray / high winds off the irish sea (and yes its THAT close)
Angelsea is a very good track, but get a windy/wet day there and it's like nowhere else.the carnage i've seen in the skips "the morning after" a bad night is unbelievable
Now the garages are built I think it's better in the day, but for camping etc I have also heard horror stories!
Would love to do Angelsey... Looks amazing! Done brands al? Cadwell looks mega for the undulation too. Got to do that this year....
if you get the chance to do cadwell ,go for an open pitlane day with no limits as it is a hell of a long way for you to come to do a few 20 minute sessions.i am booked for 3rd september which i think is the last available open pit of the year.
I like the sound of an open pitlane day, but how does it work in practice? Presumably they still sell the same number of places as they would with a grouped day, which if so would mean the track would be pretty rammed nearly all the time, wouldn't it? Or does it even itself out and not get too busy at times?
