totally agree, some of the owners are really decent guys

but some are so vain, i mean come on do you really need to take 30 mirrors around with you where ever you go;)

I love scooters, great fun machines- my first field bike was one with no panels and a sticking throttle, Dad was not best pleased when I took out all his raspberry canes whilst out of control racing round the allotment. Good luck to all those who own them its a life style!
Having said that I prefer the bike, the lifestyle and the thrills it gives me.

I've been keeping an eye out for something along these lines for my commute to and from work, as there keeps being talk of my current works vehicle being put on an O licence.
Close to 100mpg seems very appealing when i'll be paying for my own fuel.
Any suggestions for good economical ones?

How do those mirrors affect you when headlights come up behind you anyway?

I love all the posturing that goes with it. Even enjoy a bit of posing back with the old terminator/Stig 1000 yard stare when I rumble by at just above their speed.

It makes me laugh, not an easy feat, and an increasingly rare one these days.

    More of it I say.

Watch all those mirrors in the sun too, have you seen that solar park where it focuses all the suns rays into a point to boil water into steam! Imagine what they would do to your face....lol maybe you could make a new Eco bike that's powered by the sun with a boiler, only problem is only works when riding away from the suns rays....oh and we only get three days of sun a year in the UK...lol

Andrew its not cool but look at Hondas SH100...

The defo of a Moped in my dictionary reads: fat bird fun to ride but you would not tell your mates about it.

Anyway, are we talking about mopeds or scooters? My yoof was spent riding a scooter( not a mod), Vespa`s, modifying them , blowing up engines week in week out, driving around the country to various seaside locations( scooter rallies, getting my Paddy Smith patch), getting pissed up every living hour, those were the days.

Well there is a pecking order I have noticed. The traditional Lambretta/Vespa 'Mod' has an aloofness honed by years of believing that they resemble Sting in Quadrophenia, whereas the 'step thru' pilots of young, spotty, backward hatted, text speak vocabularied, faux African American/ Hammersmith accented, MotoGP replica scooters tend to desperately seek a sense of belonging, usually wasping in revive groups around angry, growling super bikes like Remoras around a shark.

Which means, i was somewhere inbetween?

I never wanted to be Sting , trust me, I was a scooter boy, proud to be stuck on the side of the road, piston rings scattered across the road, a green( 100% cotton, none of this armoured shit with stretch panels) flite jacket with my Paddy Smith patches adorned across the back, with all the protection of Andrex, listening to music like King Kurt, The meteors, Demented are go, Guana Batz. Constantly thinking `were those drum brakes going to scrub off that heady top speed of 68mph`.! Ah the memories.

I think you must have taken on the mantle of 'mysterious stranger' with one foot in either camp T. A bit like Clint in 'A Fist Full of Dollars' or even cooler as Toshiro Mifune in 'Yojimbo'.

Not 'YO! Jimbo!', which is a documentary, student made short about someone who, mistakenly, believes he recognises Mr Villiers across a crowded Kentish street.
