So... Electric Bikes.. Haha My boss has a Zero (unsure on the model) and he says it's great for him, he only double a couple of miles each day, but if the weather is cold, and you ride it properly he will only get about 25/30 miles out of it before its dead. Petrol is just so much easier, you are free to go wherever you want, whenever you want and with the sound you want.
Surely it would do more than that? So if you have a 15 mile ride to work, and no charging facility, you run the risk of not getting home? Frig me, I could, ahem, insert a Rampant Rabbit with fresh Duracells and bunny hop for more than 30 friggin' miles!
I haven't ridden an electric bike but have been in a Tesla with ludicrous mode enabled, holy that was fast. That torque curve on a bike would be bonkers
This is only if it's really cold, and hammering it, he came from an R1 to the Zero. Lincoln to the closest dealer (Birmingham) he has to hire a van to take it in for a service. Just sounds like hassle to me!
must be a 2011 , from 15 to today mileage increased a lot . A 19 model with 18kwh capacity can do round about 175 miles in the city. Than suggest to keep an eye open on the new SR-F 2019 (will soon have one) as this will another time set the bench mark for E-motorcycles.
Not disputing the battery size, just saying that for the price you would expect a much better range before it becomes more mainstream.
Do you receive a tax-payer funded subsidy when you buy one ? https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2017/march/first-electric-motorcycle-uk-government-subsidy/ https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2017/november/electric-motorcycle-boost-government-budget/ Are there other tax-payer funded benefits to buying and running one of these electric bikes ?
once they can crack the range and noise i wont mind having one, much easier to maintain and cheaper run (for now anyway) once the government miss all that fuel duty and can expect a HUGE incrwase in road duty!
