Reminds me of a giant encirclement clamp. You'd be surprised how many times a ship at sea springs a leak in the piping. Lots of straub couplings are kept on hand to keep the leak at bay until you can get to port, cut it out and repair it.

Well it kept a i doubt it we had to have a specialist bomb search team probe it and at 8 metres they found something and that’s why it’s battered and not sheeted . Also had a bloke with us all the time I was digging looking for anything. He didn’t find it funny when I walked up with a rotten oil filter in my hand
Offshore they just get someone in and cover it with Walker Technowrap composite / fibreglass covering.
