2 piece leathers all the year round. All normal internal protection and track vest at all times. The only thing that changes are the gloves/ balaclava and a wind-proof top in the winter. A little bit of Nikwax keeps the suit waterproof in most weathers. Had textiles in a 45/50 mph spill and the cordura fabric was destroyed, little rash and a load of bruises. I guess in the scheme of things it did its job but I do a lot of motorway speed now so for me good quality, well fitting leather is a no brainer. I do get hot/cold during the extremes but that's much better than having to navigate on the London tubes!
Came off my Gixer 1000 in RST 2 piece and this was the outcome. I bought another set straight away. The yellow on the back of the jacket is where my it wore thru to my back protector in the slide, the side stitching burst, split seam between the arse cheeks but I had no injuries from a fairly quick accident.
Slid down the road for about 50 metres wearing leather trousers and a cheap textile jacket. Would have walked away except they were concerned I might had busted my neck. Jacket melted in a few places but my mobile (Nokia N95) which was in a top pocket escaped totally unscathed. Trousers split a bit and had a few scrapes but were ok.
My aren-ness one piece suit has been down the road about 4 times now and have held together very well. I had a few areas reinforced after my 3rd off but they have been ace
I came off in textiles. Still have scars from the friction burns through the jacket on my arm. Think the ambulance crew had an easy job cutting it all off. Least of my worries though as it was a near fatal. Apparently my organs aren't as hard as my outside bits! I'll only ride in leathers now. I have RST pro jacket and Tractech Evo trousers. Good price, fair quality and as long as you think of them as 'use once' PPE I think they're plenty good enough. Good enough for pro racers in BSB etc...
