Ok so finally an update on this thread. I know its been a while but here goes. As far as a project goes to get this bike on track, in all honestly there wasn't really that much to do, as anything that was damaged was mostly going to get replaced anyway for track use. First up we had to replace the steering damper (the electronic connector had been snapped in the accident). Luckily we found 1 cheap on the evil bay for all of £22. That and it was a case of 2 bolts to undo the old unit and replace with the new Next up we had to replace the clipons, as 1 had snapped. Well that and you would replace these anyway for ease of replacement if a spill on track had to happen (best buy a few then) These 1's are from Diamond racing and are on special at the mo at £75 for the set When the clipons got damaged it also wiped out the brake master cylinder on 1 side along with the clutch cable along the same side. Both of which were replaced. Found an OEM clutch cable on ebay for £25. It also wiped out the Giles VCR rear sets that were fitted to the bike, but luckily the originals came along with the bike, which we also fitted. (these will be replaced in due coarse with SES rear sets over the winter months) This is where upgrades were made in the braking area. We decided to upgrade the MC with an Accossato fixed ratio MC with full braided line kit, as it wouldn't make any sense to replace with OEM in this area. We bought the MC and lines off of here via bikersdiscountstore with forum discount. (get in touch with them as the will do a cracking deal). 1 good thing about this year of bike is that it already has Brembo's as standard, that along with the MC, braided lines, and SBS pads should make for some anchor out action. We only have the fairings, and clock bracket to wait for to finish the build for the time being (plus get the fairings painted in a chosen design), and we are good to go. Managed to source a tank cover that saved a bit of cash replacing the damaged unit. Also makes it easier for painting. So all in all it has been a great little build, and we can't wait to get the bike out on track. Next update should see the bike in its final form, all painted and raring to go. Happy days
Absolutely champing at the bit mate. Just need to get somewhere booked once it's ready. I've seen Knockhill has a few half days next month that may do for a shake down.
I passed knockhilll on Saturday. I went to Kirkcaldy to drop my trackbike off as I've bought another lol. You Should have a day out together . I'm goikg to try and get up in October to do a day there with Iain so it would be great if you could come and put a name to a face aswell
Sounds like a plan mate. There are a few days left for Knockhill. We can try and get something sorted once the bike is together.
Well finally the track fairings and clock bracket has arrived. Just in time for some weekend tinkering
Hi Colin.. I might get to the 17th. Unable to get any other day as I'm getting to JEREZ. Ye ha de ha.
The finishing touches will all be Craig's handy work as he is spraying the fairing to our design. At the very least we will be able to mount up the fairings and take some pics to photoshop and have a play about with designs by the end of this weekend.
Well here is how it looks now with the fairings on. A little more fettling and it will be time to paint. Let's see if any of you guys can photoshop a design for it.
Had to order up a new shiny bit as the track fairings didn't like the cat....who does rite enuff? Out with the old.... And in with the new....just the exhaust valve cables to remove from the motor.
