Good luck getting that Austin through noise testing I've got that on my blade and it idles at 103-105 with both baffles in! But it does sound amazing! Good luck with the build it will look nuts when your finished with it.

Well I hope not - the main reason I went with the AR was their reassurances on the DB levels.....

Well had a bit of fun and games today. The Motoholders rear subframe came with a convenient battery holder, unfortunately the cables were not long enough to reach it!! There was also no where readily provided to attach all the rest of the gubbins that filled the rest of the old sub tray.

They must be designed for race looms as it was a bugger getting everything to fit!!!

So with a fair bit of faffing and half my supply of cable ties I managed to botch something together....

Also managed to have a good go at the fairings, still have a couple of fasteners to drill through and need to make some sort of bracket for the belly pan but apart from that it is now starting to look like a bike again!!!!

I had the same issues with the MotoHolder subframe. It's a bit annoying that they don't make it clear on the differences, or even sell brackets etc.
For the battery issue, I bought a ballistic quick-release set, which gives a lot more length.
I also had some brackets made for the fuse box and other parts.

For the fairing brackets, I bought the set from TenKate that comes with the Dzuz 1/4 turn fasteners - they make fitting the fairings sooooo easy

Made a little bit of progress this week.

To free up a bit of space in the rear subframe I binned the servo and fitted one of these little items.

Then got to work on the rest of the fairings. Never had any before so not sure what the quality should be like but they seem ok. Had to make a little bracket out of ally to hold the belly pan.

Hel lines fitted all round, thanks to bit of help from forum members as I forget to bleed the MC, and a set of SBS track pads up front.

Just need to fit the new chain, waiting for the new rear shock to arrive as the K-tech one wouldn't fit and set up the suspension. I'm going to get it sound tested Wednesday at Castle Doom and if it passes there it will pass anywhere!!!

Just going to leave the fairings unfinished for now and have a think about something over the winter. Its not a looker but hopefully a goer.....

Nice looking fairings. Look good quality.

I cut the loom back and re-wrapped for the battery and cables etc to fit the ally box provided. I'll take a pic and post it up when I get a sec :)

Also fitted R&G engine casings, cotton reels and fork sliders - anything else needed in the way of protection?

I also weighed everything taken off and put back on and saved in the region of 17kg's or about 8% of the kerb weight!!!

Also to anyone else thinking of doing the same, before this I had never even changed the oil on a bike and pretty much had to buy all the tools for the job. So if I can bodge something together anyone can. Thanks of course for all the help given on these forums.

    Cheers

    Simon

By any chance it catches the swing arm?

    Yes it did....

K-tech say they have sold over 200 for the 2008+ blade with no reported problems...doesn't make sense?

As suggested I have refitted the side stand - it needed the belly pan trimming and a new bracket made and fitted.

Very minor I know, but removed all the Honda safety stickers from the side of the swing arm. Borrowed Mrs T's hair dryer - probably the first time GHD's have been used in a motorcycling context.

Fitted the "special" baffle and some exhaust wadding reading for Castle Doom Wednesday.

Finally some slave labour for a wash down.....

Think it should be on the right. That way the direction of rotation would tighten rather than loosen the nut.

It was on this side when I bought the bike - its only a 5 minute job to swap over if you think it needs doing.

image.jpg As bar steward says better on right that way when u tighten axle nut it takes up slack on chain other way it tends to knock it out,Harris do it that way for that particicular reason as stated
