Pmsl.... Must of been a showroom warrior... These are mine, fully loaded luggage pissing around with my pal russ in Germany. Ok not a blade but my old r1.... As I said many a time, I've run out of balls before grip on the ring on these and we wasn't hanging around Oh and this is after Dave used them at Snet in feb Sure you will be fine dude
You have just saved me worrying lots! Those pictures are just what I needed to see to know they will be FAR better than me, thank you so much
They will be fine. Tyres are so good these days that it's more important you buy some that are correct heat range for your type of riding ...
Heat range? That's a new one on me mate, obviously they have the usage guide chart but not heard that... Your righ though, these days they are just amazing.... The new RR metzler for example is just incredible over the racetech they replace in terms of durability.... But grip is also improved (raced them back to back last two seasons) technology moves on so quick why I would never get stuck with 'a trusted' brand or tyre model. Got to try what's out there. In terms of heat though, any time we've been out the pr4's always feel just as warm on dry days as 'sticky' rubber and I've seen a few actually steaming when pulling into garage etc and out on a wet day..... Will try the new m7rr thingy though next on the speed as I'm doing far less miles and get good reviews.... Although colins lasted brilliant in Spain so no concerns there either. But I'd still be amazed if they are better for the road than the Michelin imo
I meant in terms of people buying track tyres and then using them on the road ... They are designed to run at track temps and hence on the road do not work as you are unable to generate the grip on the roads to keep them within correct temp range ... Simple fact is for 99% of road riders, even the ones that think they are fast any modern sport touring or sport tyre provide more than enough grip.... Therefore people wanting a 'stickier' tyre don't really understand this... But yes, the Metzler M7RR are very good ... I've done 7000 miles on them now and on second set ... I've also done major mileage on sport touring rubber on super bikes ... Other than the profile change there is little in it.
