Personal Opinion - The "Average" rider won't outride any of the modern rubber on offer today. I believe it's a personal thing........ I've had bridgestones on my last bikes (Albeit 600's) and have used Bridgestone BT16's and BT20's, with no issues at all. Unless you deliberately use a tyre designed for the wet in the dry, or vice versa, most of the modern crop of rubber are more than capable for 99.9% of us. People slag off Bridgestones, but me and many others have found them totally fine for everyday spirited riding. The S20 has always done really well in the various magazine tests and yet still people slag them off........... Arghhhhhh
Sportsmarts for me too , awsome tyre , track day , wet weather , put some on mine about 5 months ago (Group buy on here) , done about 3500 miles on the ,still plenty left on them , can't recomend them enough !!!!!
I think mainly the Bridgestones rubber does not last to long I have 2CTs which where only about £225.00 fitted to the bike and never have let me down.
the tyres on the blade when I got it were bridgestone, they had loads of grip but they squared off really fast. something that seems to happen more often with them now,I used to use nothing but Bridgestone but now its 2ct all the way.

Too right! And you will have moments on any off them even the best, that's just roads for you, dust, dirt, gravel, mud, potholes there all out there to trip you up....lol
My rubber of choice at the minute it Bridgestone R10's. Absolutely useless in the wet, but great craic to spin up if it's mildly moist LOL I used to only ever run Pirelli's (DCIII's, Rosso Corsa's (both versions) and Angels) Pirelli Angels are SHITE - FACT, DCIII's - Old and out dated tyres, Rosso Corsa II'2 - Good all round tyre and even handy on the track too Bridgestone R10's - Grip, grip, grip, grip (but they are expensive and only last 6-800 miles)
I ride all year round,Sportsmarts are my choice at the moment 3.5k and Ill get a few hundred more miles outa them.What I like about them is I will ride in the wet and dont even think about the grip I just ride.Only down side is you must warm them up.but if there is a better tyre out there that give this mileage id be willing to try them.
Think the 2ct is 8years old and as good as the sports smart, don't get me wrong they are fantastic as an all rounder, push them in the dry and they will give. The rear can't cope. I'm no expert but thought they would be a game changer, they wasn't! My bt016 are just as good, Rosso corsa not as good in wet but better in the dry... Personally, I think it's a much of muchness...
I must be riding wrong as I havent had a 2ct pilot or power pure let go on me in the dry unless there was something on the road.but then there is loads of factors like conditions weight, suspension,tyre pressure etc etc
Been using Pilot power for some years, commute all year, and they have been brilliant, good grip wet or dry and good wear rate, cheaper than 2CTs and just as good on the road. This Blade come with BT16 Pros, good grip again, but square faster than a whore drops her draws, useless on a 20+k mile a year bike. So will be trying the Pilot 3s this time
Me neither mate. If you can/do routinely make a modern tyre let go on dry roads, you should be on track. And skids don't count
The other day, approx 8 riders on all manner of performance motorcycles came past me into a fairly blind, fairly fast right hander. The first five were safe, the last 3 were sheep. I was going for the slow in, live to eat my dinner approach Maybe they were magazine testers and their dinner depended on it, IDK.
Love metzler prefer m3s but superceeded with m5s.. both have ridden in torrential rain and both grip! currently trying out conti sport attack 2's.. but dont know how they would go in the cold.. however riding virtually brand new (less then 50km on them) and in the wet werent a problem!!! seeing my winter only gets down to 10 degrees C at night time here where i live atm cant comment for the cold side of things of how the SA2's go... but the m3s and m5s ive done in winter down in southern parts of oz with no issues!
Contis are good tyres imo, some may say otherwise but I have a number of customers who run them, used in the superduke cup and by Nick Sanders amoung others they seem to fail to get the publics vote.. Ive used the SuperMoto tyres and they are VERY grippy tyres...
