    Totally agree mate.

Mine started making the sound last year, did 3k miles abroasd on it and various other rideouts... Hasn't got any worse, but needs doing. I was speaking to jenny Tinmouth yesterday, and she did a while race with hers going, but advised getting it done as if it jumps, there goes yer engine! Took me ages to find out where the noise was coming from as it sounds like it's coming from the clip on area and the top of the tank.... Steve and Jenny also went on to say that the blade goes through tensioners and it's a very common problem, especially at 15k miles and over.

Yeah, the american forums mores suggest that it is a common issue with blades, mores pre-12 bikes but across the range. The technician I spoke too agreed that it's something which ought to be changed but continuing to ride will not cause any damage as the chain physically does not have enough room in the casing to jump a cog; I believe him but either way, I'm not the sort to leave an issue unresolved so had her booked in straight away...

Just had a call from the dealer. As suspected, they also suspect CCT and have a new one on order which should be in tomorrow afternoon so although it will ultimately have taken 4 days (plus the week waiting originally) I should have her back and purring by the weekend. Result :)

Getting slightly paranoid about mine now. There isn't a noise and the bike runs sweet but she's an 09 and ticked over 27k the other day she's going in for a service in 3 weeks time but I've asked the dealer to check mine over to make sure it is ok. Forgive me for sounding thicker than the offspring of a village idiot and a TV weather girl here but are we saying that the CCT is generally only good for around 15k miles then you're looking at replacing it each time?

Apparently it's a common problem, Some mechs put them as a consumable as they often go. If yours isn't making the noise then don't worry. Theres quite a few on here who have had the rattle and noise from them and just replaced them. It's not an overly expensive part (£80 plus an hour to fit) so the cost of a service really. I couldn't hear mine that much with my baffle out, but when in it was rattling like the video. CBR 1000's have noisy engines anyway, but with the CCT going it's an obvious rattle.

I agree, the 'rattle' was very pronounced so it had to be changed but had Honda questioned I would have most likely just gone ahead and had a replacement fitted as they are not a lot of £'s. I think it is still a minority that suffer the problems to be fair but it's certainly not a rarity!

Mine has been doing it for around 10k now, always on the overrun around 4-5K is most noticeable. Another consumable to do at some stage. Drive chain is more noisy, so that will have to be next in my greasy hand diary.

Just had a call from the dealer, she's ready to collect and the problem was indeed the CCT! bring on the yellow stuff :)
