Yeah that's it Easter weekend just ordered a pair of Dunlop d212gp tyres I like I did like the supercorsas but going back to what I know for cadwell
Coolio, am going to Blyton on the friday but hopefully will be recovered in time to pop over on sunday if the missus hasn't cancelled all leave that weekend.
Bike looks good, think I now look after a bike that's in your class, young Sam #13 on his rather battered R6. If I am at a meet I will come find you
Well good test day everyone chucking bikes at the scenery feeling good on bike fucked up on my gearing but hey ho try a couple teeth up in rear in the morning . Cracking time with Mark and Paul top geezers
Well mine not be too fancy as I'm rushed off my bloody feet lol but like to keep page updated even though Cadwell didn't go to plan. TEST DAY I was so up for cadwell after being there 5-6 times on the blade and i can shove the blade round there so well. I knew straight away the little zx6r wasn't pulling as well as id like but thought I'm used to the blade here get with it had a few good sessions everything going ok. A chap looked at bike and set the gearing is all wrong on that mate i was running a 14-42 which he said rear needs to be around 45 to get it punching in the higher rev range i borrowed a 44 tooth sprocket which made the bike a bit better. swapped tyres for the dunlop d212gp for qualifying. went out for our 15 min stint and was getting blasted on the straights by everything so i was trying so hard in there corners but didn't have the grunt to even stay close . Qualy was 20th there were big grids for the modern classics but still pissed off . Race 1 6 laps. DRY gotta work on my starts and switch off from track day mode i followed a bloke round for a lap then a r6 come past both of us and woke me up a bit and i went back past the both of them on the next corner but id lost the group by then and didn't have the time to reel them in but still had a good few laps and was trying to get my head round the zx636 . p18 5th in class. Race 2 . WET I got a cracking start on this one and going round the outside into first left which set me up nice for charlies 1 i was actually with the pack (the front 4 dicko wagstaff sam osbouane and evans are gone not to be seen by anyone they running 1:37s on 1999 r6s ) Visor was misting up so i was lifting it holding my breath it was my new carbon helmet fresh out the box no anti fog or anything i was kicking myself at one point with the spray and mist i could only see a flash of orange on someones leathers . I was going to rip the visor off but glad i didn't as someone got black flagged for having his visor up all the way round. NOTE TO SELF your a div... this is the race I'm really pissed off about because i actually felt comfy. Race 3 WET NO DRY NO WET GRRRRR. Mixed conditions for race 3 and i stuck with wets and i got into holding area everyone bar 2 of us on wets wrong choice i knew i should of changed to the drys kicking myself . But i went out decent start i have never rode wets on a dry track before and i seriously thought i had a flat front tyre feeling is horrible but been told after its just grip moving about they will stick but i pulled in brand new wets and only 6 lap race can't see the point of chucking 300 quid down the drain. Race 4 12 laps. I was up for this not as angry as yorkshire tyke lol but i got a decent start and 3 guys who i had been battling with straight round the outside into turn 1 and didn't see them again but i got behind middle group and they left me on the straights easily pulling a second a lap on the 2 long straights over 12 laps so i settled into just trying to ring what the zx6r was doing and i didn't get overtook and i manage to catch 1 more rider and just got past . Really hard on my wrists after breaking them in november and separating my thumb they are still hurting now. Need to get some exercise to build them up a bit . p17 4th in class. Summary. Gotta build my confidence on the zx636 and get back to my old ways before hurting back and arms. i was a lot quicker but i suppose well everyone keeps telling me it will take time after big crashes to build up again i hope it comes soon lol. Bike going for Dyno Monday get a map set for new exhaust as i didn't have time before Cadwell see if we can get a few more ponies out of her Cheers everyone I had such a cracking time with yorkshire tyke paul good laugh and decent enough racing . Great write up buddy! Cadwell for me this weekend and must admit, not looking forward to it. but it'll be what it'll be....
Great write up Wedgie. Take it from me, after an off, it takes time to get into the swing of it. I had 2 big ones last year, caused damage to myself and the bike was messed up big time after both. After the first off, I shrugged it off, but then I had the second one in June last year and it really did hit my confidence. I struggled with my pace for 5 meetings afterwards and didn't feel at home on the bike at all. It wasn't until I did my last race of 2013 that I felt comfy and getting there again and this was because I went with a totally different approach. Previously I had been getting annoyed with my slower lap times etc., but for the last meeting I decided to chill out and what a difference it made. I didn't ride at all over the winter and 2014 so far has been brilliant. I have got back to where I was at my best last year and feel that I am going to make the goals I have set this year with no worries. All I can say is, relax, enjoy it and remember why you are doing this. It isn't for a career, nothing depends on it and it is supposed to be fun. Lap times and the like will come back, just go out and enjoy it and don't beat yourself up if you feel it hasn't gone quite right. Oh, and keep it lit!!!
