Folks, useful thread this, bought a 2011 Blade recently and needless to say my soft luggage doesnt fit it. I dont want to fit ironwork so thanks to Remal for confirming the Bags Connection L fits, other than that I need a new tank bag, looking at the Kriega US10/20 tail/tank bags, anyone using these? As the tank convertor appears to loop around the headstock are there any issues?? Cheers and Happy new year to all....Mike

you can't go far wrong with the bags connection,

Do you need a tank bag? I use the kriega R3 waist pack and with the Bags connection was more than enough for a week touring Spain, france etc... including taking camping gear. I also did not have any pockets on my leathers. but was still enough

Givi do some great little tank bags which fix to the fuel cap... Really easy to install the clip and has quick release.

Gets over the magnet issue you get with the blade - might be worth a look.

Remal, the tank bag is more to carry a change of clothes commuting to work plus I've always tried to keep the heavy stuff over the tank when touring.....Jimbo will investigate....Cheers Mike

On the pics...................What do the spacers bolt to/through??Looks like you,ve drilled/secured through the tail section? or have you welded a few lugs to the rack?

I welded 4 lugs to a Renntec sports rack so that with the use of the spacers my mounting plate can be be bolted to these lugs over the seat so no damage to bodywork or seat. Then fitted to my plate is a universal givi mounting plate. I used my 45 litre top case
when i got to the isle of man all was removed, about 10 mins to do back to sports bike to play on the mountain course

It does look daft but its secure and i don't have to were it on my back or carry it around with me when i stop for a break
and it only tacks 10 mins to remove the lot when i get to my destination

What is known as a necessary evil in my eyes!! I 50ltrd On my back to the black forest, wasn't end of world but would have prefered my tail pack - if only it didn't fuck with my paint...

The Renntec sports rack fits on to fixing points under the seat and my mod fits to the rack and does not touch any other part of the bike ie paint work or the vinyl of the seat

I thought about doing it like that too,I have the rack but changed my mind in the end.I had a spare pillion seat that I fitted some spacers under the cover and then just bolted the quick release plate to it.........job done.I carry the single seat in the top section of the box and takes 30 sec to convert back.
