Mine came through last June for the two blades, upto 20k miles (ones used for business use) £800 from MCE. tried to seperate out the 10 blade as social use only, wouldn't have it. Now have both bikes on a group policy with a heavily modded golf (300bhp) £720 for all three, Golf on it's own on a previously policy was over £800

I now know why i pay so much......... looking at some of the locations of you guys, its clear that its the city i live in thats causing the issue, Manchester has its '' issues '' and i guess the claim rate around the city it adding to my premium, bugger.

^^ I live way out in the sticks and my insurance is HUGE compared to all you lot. It's infuriating!

Fair enough, i had a blade stolen in 2010 but I PAID for that with excess and can accept a £100 premium hike - but to get my blade insured is about £900 a year! I went for a multi bike policy which helps my mental state a bit as for the blade, gixxer 1000 and gixxer 750 its about £1200 - but that is still MASSIVE and you can only ride one at a time!

33, 4 years NCB (was protected during theft), garaged, safe neighborhood etc. Its a joke - OH! and just because your NCB is protected, i found out the other day that it means s!t all as they still list the claim and raise your premium.

    Makes me sick.

With ALL the insurances i pay, Car, bike, home, business, employers liability, health, travel etc etc. I think i spend over £10,000 a year. Its the biggest con going and they scare you into buying it.

agreed, I live within 1/2 mile of South glos, Lower insurance area and within 2 miles of Bath and north east somerset which is lower again. which is a bitch, well once I move ( been keeping on to the wife for years) and I get my double garage I will be happier and hoping the costs for insurance go down.

Saying that under £400 full comp and protected for a 1 year old blade. Pay under that for the wifes S max whihc is 18 months old. and only £180 for my kit car insurance so not all bad.

I hear you Zee. I had a protected No Claims Bonus when I wrote off the Ducati but they wouldn't insure me at all if I wanted to upgrade that policy to the FireBlade. If I cancelled that policy and started again with the FireBlade they were more than happy to insure me.

    Same company.

It's great my wife has crashed twice on my policy both times I was out of the country.

But I have to tell them I have two claims. She meanwhile has no claims so gets cheap insurance how is that fair !!!!!

Mce where awful this time around lied to me, messed up mods, tried to con me into monthly payments etc etc I had already paid them so have to stick with them this year but won't next year after there behaviour this time around.... Shocking :(

    Yeah I saw that.

    I think you're right.

I also think that most of the problems we face with our insurance is based around the risk assessment being compiled by a computer programme. So many points for post code, so many for age, so many for claims experience etc. Real world common sense is taken out of the hands of the human brokers and they're reduced to in-putters. I reckon that's why a lot of the quotes don't seem to make much sense, there's no longer room for the dynamic of a dialogue between the customer and the assessor.

When I finally sorted the cover for my 'Blade, I spent 15 minutes talking to a geezer on the phone who had just been through a very similar accident to mine on his Gixxer and he was in-putting my details based on his understanding and interpretation of my position. Result, sorted. It wouldn't happen a second time.

That's why I'm seriously thinking about going back to the old broker system. Find a bloke, in an office, who has a working knowledge of the system and it's pitfalls, who will listen to what I want from across the desk, not from Ulan Bator, work out what I need and sort it. Yes I will have to add his commission to the bill but I'm paying so much less than some of you poor bastards I can take one for the team.
