As owner of all your serious bikes you listed (no no kakkasaki 900 but gsx-s 1000 too) wanna say : great choice!
After looking at all the supernakeds and those not so super, it finally dawned on me that the manager of the KTM dealership was right. You won't ride any slower, you'll still ride at the same speed, but your neck with ache more and you'll have more flies in your teeth. His words not mine, when I was thinking of not buying another liter sports bike.
Bike ordered, should be here in 2 weeks. Just in time to take it to the MotoGP at Le Mans. Been waiting all winter for this ! Lovely looking bike; picture from MCN website
Congrats, Mattie. A new bike, no matter what make, is always good. It certainly has a 'busy' appearance, and seems to be the trend forward now. Best of all though, it doesn't have one of those horrid dangling half-a-rear-fender a la the new CB1000R.
Shes a beauty Your gonna love that crossplane engine Matt. Recommend the Yamaha approved Akrapovic slip-on
Thanks guys, this will probably be the last new bike for a while as the reasons for wanting to change bikes become ever smaller. @gcon45 - I know what you mean about cleaning flies and crud from all those nooks and crannies - toothbrush time ! @Cbrjay - old faded Honda Racing T-Shirts are still a favourites though, even though the bikes have changed. @nigelrb - so much to look at at the front of the bike that I hardly notice the rear - sort of doesn't matter. It would though if it had one of those awful floating mudguard contraptions - like towing a trailer ! @Spartan Andy - all this from a Japanese in-line 4 cylinder motor ! And as a bonus, the valve check service is 24,000 miles which is much better than the Beemer and probably a lot lot cheaper. @dainesefreak - if you are looking for fuel range buy a V-Strom ! seriously though at least it has a fuel gauge ! and this Euro 4 has improved fuel economy. Not ideal but good enough I reckon. The only extras that have been ordered are the Radiator and Oil Cooler guards. The Akra looks nice, probably something for later. Even a Ducati V4 could not make me any happier, this is something really special.
Exactly what I was thinking. I have my sports bike cleaning down to a fine art. I can wash, rinse, dry, clean chain and sprockets, polish body work and wheels and back in the garage in 1 hr 15 mins.
Please write us a manual. I spend hours, and then find that when I post a pic on here someone will ALWAYS find the one bit I missed.
derchef, judging buy the motorcycles you have in your collection, you must have more money than the sultan of Brunei.
On the other MT10 i fitted a brand new 17 R1 engine with MT camshaft , still need to refine the maps (did an ecu flash plus i m using a pc5) , but Must say already 17 and 18 models are less nervous (still prone to power wheelie even in 4th gear) and they are better for pure street use Also cheap front brake upgrade : r1> 2015 radial master cylinder and brembo SC / EBC HH pads . P.S. with the r1 master it´s possible to keep the oem brake lines and switch (due cruise control function) plenty of info in my group https://www.facebook.com/groups/448128215576782/
It's the look and the lifetime warranty. Also, the engine is running slightly cooler, but I have to mention, that I replaced the cooling water with Evans waterless cooling etc.
