. Bought one of these for a fiver 'cos it (nearly) matches my bike. LADIES MENS UNISEX BACKPACK RUCKSACK SCHOOL COLLEGE TRAVEL CABIN GYM BAG A72J26 | eBay . Cheap as chips but it is actually quite good quality and really handy for a short trip into town to do a bit of shopping.
Started to strip engine .................Gear clusters out, cases split and removed the Balance shaft. Cush drive rubbers OK............ bugger!!!!!!!, Oh well.........I,ll be bolting it back together this week and bunging in a set of plugs aswell as checking the clearences.
Started to give it a full on clean - all plastics removed Rad soaking in warm water - Its not pretty but its not been done in 80,000 miles and if you only knew what it has been ridden through. In last 3 / 4 months it's had: New chain and sprockets New Headstock bearings New wheel bearings front and rear Air filter cleaned yesterday, oil and filter will be changed this coming weekend New brake pads front and rear New tyres Coolant will be replaced when rad goes back on. Plugs were changed about 10k ago so good for another 20k
Took my forks off, they had a full service, new seals, re shim, new oil, racetech compression valves and springs to suit my weight, just put them back on now just got to find time for the full 16k service and smaller front sprocket, must hurry, spring is only a few weeks away I know what my next days off will be assigned to
Took my old Blade for it's MOT and it passed again, over 60K on the clock now and sporting some Chinese discs, will have to see how they fare.
Took my blade for its first MOT (3 years old 1st march) and it FAILED due to exhaust noise. Massively annoying. Its a Leo Vince GP Pro and it had the db killer in. Now fallen out with my local Honda dealer.
Road test of about 50 miles since refitting the engine after "Open Heart Surgery"...............alls good , no leaks , ..............now praying for some sun.
Just received my metzeler M7 RR, mount my new motodynamic tail light and depose my engine for some boost ....
Went out in sunshine and thought this is spring, then got caught in hail shower so 2 hrs of cleaning followed
Spent a while cleaning up the front of the engine and round the spark plugs / connectors to remove all the road grime and junk Put the air collector box and air tube gaskets back on Cleaned R&G guard up which needs a light sand prior to a spray with satin black Next is to prep the sides of the radiator for a coat of paint - may get the polishing buff out and apply some to the downpipes before the rad goes back on over the weekend Need to cut out the long dead Datatool 'Snitcher' which was hard wired in - switched 12v socket also removed.
Fitted the Oxford Nanos to the back after improvising and spraying some washers to fit them to the R&G Tail Tidy. Must say I am not impressed with R&G, emailed them last weekend about the proper bits and have heard f@#k all back from them. Won't be buying any more of their kit if that is their attitude.
Totally agree about the R&G mate i had one on my RR6 ended up selling and buying an Evotech instead much better looking build quality i fitted Nano s a year or so ago to it too with no grief at all maybe worth a thought
Rode in driving rain to town... Then treated the bike to an 8000mile service, new front tyre (PR3) and front brake pads... They even gave it a wash... Driving rain again home... Boy is is wet... Thought I might have to get off and swim on the M4 at times... H
