Just keep walking away from it until you have calmed down! That's what I did as I didn't want to fall out with her
Run my cables down the left side following the main bike harness, then under the seat where the LCD is Velcroed on to the battery rubber strap. Bit of a pain when adjusting but once set it's set.
I zip tied the harness to the sensor along the main loom On the left of the bike. The module is on some double sided Velcro on a relay under the seat. The unit is waterproof but I still didn't want it exposing to rain or heat if it's to near the engine. It is fiddly getting it set under there but once done jobs a good en . Stickers look well Matt. Im also a fan . Got some to go on mine once I remove the safety stickers etc
Thats the problem Daz with the abs model there just isn't that room under the seat. If i put it under the seat every time i went over a bump the settings would change lmao.... Took it out for a quick spin before the rain came this morning to test it, all was good and it performed well however ive found a fault with my workmanship. One of the new top coil connectors is touching one of the cooling fans, the fans came on at traffic lights and i could hear a strange whining noise. I found the fault right away and theres no damage done, sadly though i have to strip her down again.....
Ah gutted about the fan.. You'll get it sorted some enough snd it's a good excuse to continue bonding with her . I think theres the same amount of space available under the seat on the abs and non abs models. Mines just a fit tbh but sits there nicely on Velcro. If it's changing settings have you taken it out of setup mode? You can only put it in by holding the button and realising it on zero after a countdown from 5 I could be wrong tho lol. I've been wrong before
. Well, yesterday actually, re-placed my front pads. That brings me bang up to date with the 12,000 mile service. New tyres too. Roll on summer. The Bible! Here's what it costs to re-place those 'Brake caliper mounting bolts'. YIKES!!! Probably a good few miles left in 'em but they needed a strip-down and clean so I killed two birds with one stone. A good clean all round the pistons before pressing them back. A lot of very short strokes on the lever to take up the 'slack' 'cos apparently, brake fluid attracts moisture and that (over time) this can, so I've been told, cause rust to form in the brake lever cylinder, up where the piston doesn't normally travel and could, possibly, damage the lip of the seal. Sounds reasonable so why risk it? Nick.
Hi if you leave it on set up mode accidentally it will after a certain amount of time come out of set up mode I've put my QUICKSHIFTER LCD unit under the passenger seat compared to yours I've got loads of room
Shock horror I actually rode it, well only up to the mot place but it is a start. Nearly learnt the lesson the hard way about cold new tyres but luckily the rear just squirmed a bit and I held it Now sat having a coffee whilst I wait for the call.
Lol, i was joking about it changing settings.. Im going to look at putting it under the passenger seat as Clarkey has done, just didn't think it would reach tbh..... cheers Daz..
Collected Tail unit & front mudguard second hand from Chelmsford................it'll be on by sunday for sure!!
Collected it and rode it home from Gloucester ... Was cold and wet but I loved every second. Got it home and put on my tail tidy, paddock bobbins and double bubble screen. Next is new tyres.. But whats a suitable summer tyre with good wet grip?
I take it to Ray Hamblin's in Gainsborough. Old school place and never any BS about stuff. Good for a bit of advice as well. Am due my 16k service in about 1500 miles and he says about £300 + VAT including the valve clearances. Bike passed with no advisories. Black light protectors back on and baffle out
Spent the morning stripping the entire front end and removing the forks... probably stripped off more than I need to, but I wanted to ensure I could locate the headstock stand cleanly and with no fear of cracking any plastics. Also started looking at what other jobs I can do while its in bits... might look at getting some titanium bolts for the calipers/axle/pinch bolts... but MY GOD, that adds up to a hefty price tag! Decided to take a peek at the air filters, but can't get the lid off the airbox... I've clearly missed a screw, but I'll be buggered if I can work out which one it is... don't want to mindlessly remove screws... will take another look tomorrow. Am also going to look into removing the PAIR system and the intake flaps, ready for getting a PC5 when the bank balance recovers.
Today i de-shitted it from the nasty little rush hour rain storm we got caught in yesterday, after being able to spend a whole week clean and shiny for the first time in months.... Cleaned and shampooed, dried, Meguiars detailer spray, silicon everything thats not brakes or bodywork, Autoglym super resin polish, topped with Meguiars gold class carnauba plus liquid wax ! Attacked chain with muc off chain cleaner and a tooth brush (thats love for you, that is..), and doust it in Castrol race lube ! Took some pics after staring lovingly at it from all angles for what must have been an hour
