Made a start on stripping off the ABS system on my bike and will have it all changed over to a standard setup. Got all the Braided lines off and ready for their new home and will finish the rest of the job along with fitting a new cam chain tensioner (thinking of going the manual route), and give the bike a service next time in down the road again.
Today i mainly: Refitted radiator that i have repainted as was getting tatty. Finished off heat barrier under seat. Filled with lovely Castrol Power 1 Racing. Had a mess around with new silencer to see how it sits. (Baffles being prized out tomorrow ) Called HM Racing about getting booked in for a Bazzaz and a custom map job, but the guy recommends i go with a PCV !? Why a PCV over a Bazzaz ?? Decided i really don't like mirrors, so I'm toying with the idea of mounting a tiny bullet camera where my rear brake reservoir once sat, (replaced it with a HRC thingy), and mounting a 3.5" screen in the cockpit somewhere ! Anyone seen this done ?
Just replaced my HID bulb, bloody nightmare getting the wiring back. I change the bulb every year so reducing the likelihood of it blowing on me, only costs less than a fiver from fleebay.
I forget about my phobia of electrics until the realisation sets in when I've got the wires staring at me... Always seems a good idea until the sweats and anxiety sets in Shouldn't be rocket science tho... Its just a reversing camera that stays on and they come with a loom so just a bit of shortening and tapping into a live ! I'll be fine lol
Fitting my quick action throttle and removed the HM shifter ready for the healtech. Why are the throttle cables so hard to fit to the throttle bodies? There must be a nack to it..
Started stripping the OEM front brakes out on the blade. Also fitted smoked rear light with intragrated indicators to the Z1000 + baffles to the Vance & Hines urban brawlers, sounds sweet now!
Bike #1 put up on paddock stands, removed brake pads and put on Optimate then sprayed bike with Scottoiler protection. Bike #2 put onto paddock stands for working on. Bike #3 removed generator and rectifier, fitted battery from euro td spares box, removed top yoke and copied yokes spacers as ive to fit same r6 forks to our team spare race bike. Just remembered i forgot to put on optimate so will now be out in the shed tmro.
Just did the mod to my oe flasher relay that's been gathering dust for the last 2 years since I fitted a relay for LEDs. Cut it open, removed pin 7 and sealed it up............fitted to bike and presto......it works!. Got to be the best mod I,ve done for a long time. Thanks to that man for posting the pics.
Today mainly: Filled system with silkoline premix coolant. Soldered up number plate wire that had snapped. Refitted most of the fairing (Until my new replacements turn up) Tried to get db killers out of silencers but after the employment of a few different techniques and a lot of swearing, they wouldn't budge ! Fired up for the first time since the strip down and re-bolt of all the goodies and Jeez she sounds amazing !!! Don't know if the baffles need to come out as it sounds so sweet and growly and probably twice as loud as it was with standard silencers and cat etc ! Entered her into the Cannonball Run !!
Did not think you needed one just bypass I did it is separate Ecu on module This us off me 600 by passed to conventional brakes Along with the pump also
Yesterday, took bike out for its first proper blast in months... Ran really nice with new pipes and mods, with db killers in, and sounded great ! Took db killers out with a friends slide hammer.. JESUS its loud !!! Proper sexy, make your balls tighten loud ! Growly and knarly !! Maybe a bit too loud for the feds tho, so in two minds :roll eyes: ! Didn't run quite as sweet as with the baffles but i still need the PCV and map done.. Tried to contact a couple of the chinese fairing retailers to put in my request, but 24hrs later and still no reply from either... Today: Fitted Pro bolt fairing kit with lashings of copper slip !
Had a quick blast to see how the Healtech QS was and it was good. Then realised that the bike was first registered on 01/01/12 so its past its first MOT so I called in at the local garage that I have never used before to see when they could fit it in. The bloke there was really interested in the bike and looked at all the mods. Exhaust = "as long as it hasn't got not for road use stamped on it I don't care how loud it is" HID headlights = "there are rules for them on cars but nothing on bikes yet so their fine" Motodynamics rear light with flashing brake light and integrated indicators = " that's a good idea not strictly legal but I cant see a problem with it" Smaller rear plate = "I'll have to put one of them stupid reflectors on it for the test but they come off quite easy after" So booked in for tomorrow without the hassle of changing everything back to standard yippee
On my R6 race bike: removed bent end can and broken it down (will remove dent and replace packing) removed bent rear brake lever (requires heat to straighten) removed bent exhaust bracket (requires heat to straighten) removed clock brackets (will replace with SES one once straightened) fitted race clip-ons, brake/clutch lever, QA throttle, switches. Fibreglass repaired 2 x sets of race fairings (require filling, smoothing and painting) Ordered new banjo bolt for Brembo master cylinder. Plan for the rest of the week is to fit all the new parts I have lying around (including rear shock & GPS lap timer) so that all I have to do is repair a few bits before 'testing' on trackways in Feb/Mar.
