Little R6 Race bike got some new clothes, they'll be off to get some Army red with a bit of white & black very soon.

Also awaiting delivery of my order of:
    1. Full set of GB Racing protection. Those racing in No Limits Racing have to have SECONDARY engine protection in 2016.
    2. A new set of all round Goodridge brake hoses as the old ones are a bit battered.

Next on my list of things to do are:
    1. Front fork service
    2. Brake calliper cleaning and service (when fitting new hoses)
    3. Modify rear calliper to become 'captive' with the adjuster (as below).
    4. Fit new captive spacers to both sets of wheels.

When I was in Cartagena at start of the month, (day 2 of 4 for me but day 2 of 7 for him ad his dad); one of the ZX6R riders in my garage asked me for advice on why his brakes were spongy. I took one look at his brake fluid and hinted that the fact it looked like coka cola might be the issue

I gave him a hand bleeding it though to fresh stuff and he went out on the next session with brakes that actually worked and my advice of 'get used to the feeling of the fresh fluid before pushing on!' ringing in his ears.

Being a little slow in the head; he grabbed a fist full of front brake on the first lap in the way he previously had to do in order to stop; over braked so his rear lifted, then released them and promptly crashed into the barrier

The next day after he'd returned from hospital, (with his dad who'd ridden into the arse end of someone else on the 2nd session of day 1 :( and had also just been released o_O) I overheard them talking about a little bottle of the old coka cola brake fluid he'd kept. His dad said 'ye, its old but perfectly serviceable'.

Pair of fecking idiots! Thank god they weren't in my group!

Had a bit of a tinkering morning........pulled the K & N,s out for a well overdue bath , decided to sort out the quick action throttle from 85 degree to 60 degree and while I was at it I bunged the gauges on to set the throttle body's ( and that was a waste of time ) all in all a good day..........until the wife rings and says she had gone shopping and had left her card in the hole in the wall.....and was standing in sainsbury with a trolly of fast thawing food needing paying for.

Not sure at all. I made a point of explaining to the son later the reason why his brake fluid had turned black, how it is hydroscopic (absorbs water from the air) and the effect this has on the fluid. Both of their bikes were poorly maintained. The onboard vid of the dad hitting some random slower guy up the arse at the end of the straight was just appalling; slipstreaming him was bad enough but on a track day into the braking zone with massive speed difference was just down right dangerous!

Anyways; back to my bike. Rear captive spacers fitted and Captive calliper now made in the garage with a drill, dremel & thread tap.

Sorted my leaking fork - it was the oil seal and not the bushes. Flushed the coolant and refilled with some nice new stuff. Taking off the fairings and refitting for the first time was fun!

Took it for a ride and patted the tank :)

I was just about to buy a Gilles shift support for the 08 trackbike I've just bought, only to find that there's already one on there! Logic dictates I now need to spend £60 on something else for it...

Some new goodies for the R6 (@ 50% off). Time for a full brake overhaul with some Motul RBF 660 brake fluid.
