I took my girlfriend for a ride on my (new) bike today. She was really excited and has been nagging me ever since I got it to take her for a ride but I insisted she gets gear first. So now she had most of the gear and I took her for a gentle "slow" ride. We rode along the coast and there was a fair but of sand and salty air. So afterwards I washed the bike with car soap polish and then rinsed it off with water. I sprayed the radiator and the stanchions and the brakes and calipers etc. Then I left it in the sun and wind to blow dry. I've heard you should spray the radiator with WD40 afterwards a wash to prevent rust. Am I doing something good, or bad? How can I prevent the brake disks from corroding? I live about 2km from the sea. So I'm not in smelling and hearing distance. I park the bike outside bike keep her covered 99% of the time.
SP Engineering carbon stubby fitted, great fit if a little bit of struggle, swingarm stickers removed, rim decals added just waiting for smaller numberplate to arrive. I would post a pic but it keeps saying file to large ! I'll try later when I have more patience !!!
This week I have fitted a new swingarm (pressing the new bearings in was a bit of a faff), new chain and sprokets, cleaned all the calpiers, disks and pads, put new brake fluid in and blead out the lines. Also blead the clutch as this din't feel right after taking off the cluthch slave cylinder to let me change the chain and sprokets. Bike feels great now and I cant wait for some nice weather or for Easter when the first trip of the year is planned.
Fitted some GB Engine covers and gave it a quick wipe down, stood back and realised how much I like it!
Fitted new chain & sprockets, fitted a new back tyre. Got a new front one on order. She just needs a wash now
