Had a run out this morning down towards Shrewsbury weather quite good and loads of bikes out had a good couple of chases which was fun but in true Guy Martin style win it or bin it so i won it he he! Very happy with the new tyres Michelin 2CTs no issues at all and the bike ''seems'' to be handling better !not that it was shit in the first place mind. The sucker drunk the juice though . Not sure how many miles but it was full when i left and on the fumes when i pulled in at home i did not stop for a brew or anything as it felt right just to keep ''on it'' Anyhow back to the Thread (Was that a Ronny Corbett moment) I washed the bike and also fitted a new set of front brake pads .These are the EBC double h/h sintered the old pads had loads left but i think i may just get a bit more bite out of these which will be useful as there are loads of old pricks driving around in black 4x4s at slow speed and its hard to tell as you gain on these fuckers fast!. A question here ,I have a good set of sockets but a 15mm was to big and a 14mm to small for the caliper bolts so i ended up using something like a 9/16th (can't remember)but why is this ? Also as i cleaned out the calipers i squeezed the brake lever just a touch to open the cylinders out so i could clean a bit more shit from around them but i noticed that all 4 don't come out at the same time so i pushed them back in and pumped again and they still was not say uniform and one stayed in so now reconnected to the bike would they all work as they should?
Cheers for all the positive comments lads, the fairing kit was from actumarts and the fit isn't quite up to the standards of the honda ones that I removed but they are pretty damned good. My biggest issue with the fitting has been because of the no cut fairing protectors, which i've removed again and will be sending back as the allen head bolt on the right hand side sticks out way too far and would damage the panel if I tried to tighten it down. Now i'm back to the same position that i'm short of the front engine to frame mounting bolts!!
Cheers Matt I will do and thanks again for the rivet link, that damned chain riveter that I bought still hasn't turned up yet tho. I could well be after the front engine/ frame bolts as mentioned above, but i'd prefer to run some form of crase bungs really.
Here's a couple more pics, I've still got to fit the mirrors and wheels. The mirrors I've got a new pair of late ZX10 mirrors with the built in indicators that I'm trying to adapt slightly to fit. Getting a bit too dark when I took this last one
Yes mate i've taken a while to get round to fitting them tho, I was first thinking of getting my wheels powdercoated white to suit but ended up ordering a set of dymags in white instead. For the money I thought I could hardly go wrong, the paint quality isn't too far off what i'd imagine you'd get from the likes of dream machine and the like except they were only around £300 delivered plus i've still got my original plastics!
when i had my hrc rr7 i wanted to convert to repsol and nearly ordered a set of panels but the black not silver frame would have looked out of place and the wheel colour was an issue. it do,s look damn smart and different.
Yeah I know what you mean, I think mine would look better if the frame was silver for the Rothmans colours.
The pistons should all move freely and release, try clamping the ones that are moving to see if the others move, give them a clean with brake cleaner and a toothbrush. If they are sticking its a strip and clean regrease with red grease. Socket head size on mine is 14mm.
Fitted tailtidy, cheers Rob,and refitted pillion footpegs,(won;t be taking them off again!!)split rear subframe as advised on forum cheers for advice! then took wife for a we run, handels pretty good 2 up
Just received my integrated rear light from the states No import duty BYE BYE rear indicators Pics to follow
decided to fit the tail tidy, took me a couple of hours and a few beers but worth it,just need a small reg plate now
I spent about 5 hours stripping my bike today and cleaning all those little places you can't get to. After my little excursion into the muddy stuff and rushed fix for the next race, it was on the outset ok, but jeez, there was some mud hidden away in the nooks and crannys!! Went through a handful of smart price toothbrushes, the best part of a can of WD (mans best friend), and ended up with a very nice and clean, fully checked out bike, ready for Oulton on Wednesday. Also did a complete bolt check and swapped the oil/filter again. Very satisfying evening, with G series of QI playing in the garage, it was a joy to get stuck in lol. I have some pics of my new-ish exhaust too... Good day, and now free tomorrow for BSB,WSB, & MotoGP Bongo
You cant beat a bit of dub d 40 for the bike or anything else really although been using GT85 lately and it smells better glad your all sorted, like the can looks good
Lost my Standard rear reflector, took my a few seconds to see what was missing, just a small hole and black plastic?
fitted tail tidy took me ages as too many distractions on telly. pillion footpegs removed last week, new end can (probably gpr) hopefully on in next few weeks.
