I think if it's if you hardly use the bike in winter and don't have it on trickle charge. Because i was always told starting the bike but not running it obviously runs the battery down etc...however...saying that, the other half never rode his bikes in the winter, none were on a trickle charge and without fail he used to start them up every few weeks, leave em running a while & rev them a bit And despite me screaching in the background every time words to the effect of You'll f#ck the battery up...it never did. Blooming things started and ran perfect every spring! That included S1000rr, HP4 & AT's so gawd knows!
Hitch, if a bike or car is run for only 10 minutes or so, the exhaust system will not generate sufficient heat to disperse the start-up condensation. It then falls to the lowest point (obviously) and will commence corrosion/rust, more than likely in the collector box. I NEVER give any of mine a start-up and idle, BUT I will run them a few miles, generally every 4 - 6 weeks. Some I have on SORN and will tax and untax on direct debit.
Treated the Blade to a Racefit exhaust this morning it got dispatched this afternoon and will be here tomorrow!! What great service, who says that Christmas delivery is terrible!
Yep, great exhaust and great company. I'd actually purchased one for my 2011 only to find that some dropkick had actually welded the link pipe to the headers. WTF? Racefit was kind enough to refund in full! You bike will certainly look better and sound better!
just running the engine to temp and switching it off doesn't get rid of condensation and fuel in the oil. You can actually end up with more condesation at the end. You probably have to run it much longer to avoid this maybe two cycles of cooling fan on/off?
Just picked up the racefit growler from work, got delivered this morning can't believe how light it is, it looks fairly simple to remove the stock exhaust on a 15 plate, anything I should be wary of?
Bonus!! Just fluked a set of spinners (premium bobbins) on ebay for 12 quid inc postage. These are generally 20-plus!!
I treated mine to a trip to the seaside, found a nice quiet spot to park it up on its own. Went to McDonald's and when i came out of the loo, a brazillian bikes had parked next to me! Anyway, here are some dreadful photos, including a selfie showing off my new leathers, just for @bradt 20181230_100003 by John, on Flickr 20181230_104540 by John, on Flickr 20181230_105025 by John, on Flickr 20181230_105200 by John, on Flickr 20181230_105328 by John, on Flickr 20181230_105339 by John, on Flickr 20181230_111124 by John, on Flickr 20181230_112156 by John, on Flickr 20181230_112431 by John, on Flickr 20181230_131505 by John, on Flickr it needed a good wash when it got home!
Well good on you @blink getting all the way out to Skegvegas...you've probably done more miles today than @nigelrb does in a year Great to see you enjoying your new bike
i did plenty more than i wanted to, i got lost and went via louth, grimsby and somewhere else beginning with G. Think i did 160 miles i put about 3k on my old one in a year
Lol how on earth did you end up at Grimsby going to Skeggy Cracking photos by the way...the 2nd one looks like a scene from 28 Days Later just before the zombies pop up
i think i mistook and 8 for a 6 on a sign or something anyway, yes, it looks a bit derelict, reminds me of Pripyat, thats what attracted me to that pic
Skegness being compared to Pripyat never have truer words been spoken! Should have shouted up where you were going, Skeggy is only 35 mins away for me
i only decided this morning, i thought it might be a good route to get some experience in. Id like to meet some bikers, but i find riding/driving in convoy really stressful, but i might start doing it when im better at riding. I dont want to go faster than i want, just to keep up, and i dont want to slow everyone else down. i have to say, about an hour from home, i started feeling really isolated, in the car, it takes about 5 minutes so I think i might need to get some sort of headphones setup so i can listen to some music. oh, that tail bag is fantastic, love it compared to a rucksack, which i always thought made me look like a spotty yoof on his way to college, panniers just arent for me (yet), not sure they would just ruin the look of the bike
