I reckon a novice track day or indeed one of those where you use there bike learn bike control in a safe environment 1 -2-1 with a instructor body positioning etc....would help you out then do a road course

    Yep. Gets my vote.

I think a 600 at Ron Haslam's would be a good start. Many of us learn as we go, but still even after a couple of years might not learn as much as we would on a track-based course for what is essentially a small investment. I've been on the fence with this for 2 years now and wish to heck I'd just bite the bullet and go.

For the present though @blink, I'd even be inclined to forget all about filtering and just go with the flow and take advantage of gaps in traffic. By your own admission you're feeling more confident all the time, so perhaps you might feel more rewarded by not taking too much on board at once. First, get confident with braking and cornering and then progress from there. No one will ever say a 1 litre bike is an easy beast!;)

Years ago I did the GSXR school at Mallory park I learnt loads in 2 hrs from Dean Ellison ask me what I wanted to learn put the bike up on paddock stands got me to go through body positioning at different aspects a bike is a different animal at speed and once it clicks it can be the best feeling in the world...

Im getting on ok, i just get paranoid and it helps talking about it. I have this idea that everyone asusmes im the fastest and best rider which piles on the pressure. Its not my anilities, just paranoia.

Also have a thing about doing something stupid in front of a load of bikes because i should be perfect in every way. I was the same when i started driving but once over that, i was fine.

Even at the weekend when i relax and just enjoy, i know i do better than when i first set off thinking about everything.

That said, i would like to do some course, once i can just get on it without thinking about it id that makes sense

A certain amount of paranoia is a good thing to have when on a bike, only question is if it is paranoia if the bastards are out to get you?

Its obviously a problem i have but paranoia about ppl looking at me, then pulling out anyway is definitely founded in fact.

This reminds me of sex education at school. The withdrawl method. Teacher said it was self explanatory. Unfortunately, i thought withdrawl was something that happened when you ran out of cigarettes, so thought smokers without cigs was a viable contraceptive method.

Ah, I get it. You're stationary with the bike balanced with your knee. Good effort!!:D;)

Changed the painted tank cover 'knee' sections for some standard items today. They were starting to show signs of dulling so I decided to stop the rot, keep them stored. They don't look as good as the painted ones that form part of the paint job but for 28 quid..... A cheap remedy :)

Why don’t you just cover them with the clear 3m stuff mate? Will protect the paint and look so much better

If you remember I had a set of clear Eazi grips on there, but they started to lift in places and trap dirt. Then I was faced with the daunting job of removing them without tearing off my paint job!! This way I don't have to worry about sticking tank protectors/grippers on there. Your legs don't really come into contact with the upper part of the tank, you just get knee rub on this lower bit, so these will do the job for the foreseeable future and keep painted ones decent.;)

Yep. That was my thought until I saw your post. I have done exactly that on the small tank section above the sub frame, and it's totally unnoticeable.

It is a shame though, that those small panels have suffered in such a short time.:(
