need some road tyres on the R1 - wont be tracking it (unless the blade isnt ready come march) so want them for fairly committed road riding and the scotland tour – if they last that long. recently tried the following and summarise as: 2ct's - great all round, good mileage, awesome in wet, tracked no problems, must be old hat now days? Rosso corsa - awesome dry, not fantastic in wet, decent life, good on track, not amazing though? sportsmarts - easy scrub in (in wet lol) good life on mine (shite on mates?) all round very good but not as good as I initially thought throughout tyre life and felt unstable as high speed? BT016 Pro - forced buy in europe, 50 rear so turn in slow, but good feel and decent life, above average in wet but rear has gone off bad now - cheap but decent tyre imo Next i'm going to give the bridgestone S20 a whirl, £300 fitted wheels on bike at my local garage so not cheap but quite impressed with the bt016 pro so if this is another step forward they should suit my requirements. Has anyone tried them? obviously all tyres are subjective and down to personal feel etc - but be interested to hear some thoughts on THESE tyres.... lol
I've not tried them but after using 014.015 and 016's I personally would not be going to bridgestone for a while myself
thats strange, i actually thought the 016 pro were as good as the pirelli's and heard the sport touring bt023 (i think) are mega... so thought i'd give the new sports ones a whirl... i'll know come sunday anyway i guess....
are the ones you tried all OE tyres?? tbh every single tyre i have had on a new bike have been shite.... regardless of brand.
Which 2CTs are you referring to? The Pilot Powers? If so, have you tried the Power Pures? Best tyre I've had although I've not tried Sportsmarts yet. Coped well with touring, track and wet and longevity is pretty good (although I've done a lot more touring on them than track). Turn-in is pretty quick too.
no the 014 and 016 I bought, I was recommended Bridgestones when I first started riding. Until about 3 years ago tried 2Ct's and found them to be miles better then went to the sportsmarts and again even better, Now on Dunlop Ntec's but thats only fort fast dry road or track.
totally agree 2ct are great - sportsmarts better - but only morginally.... dont think they are as revolutionary as i thought they would be (yes i beleived the hype lol) although i thought the bridgestones were good so i'll let you know my thoughts on the S20's.
indeed!! i need to man up.... although these were brand new tyres scrubbed in on the route napoleon so can vouch for sportsmarts... lol
Ok after going to the NEC show and talking to dunlop I was looking at their D212 Gp hand made track tyres Anyone use these? I can't find them on the Dunlop website??? I'm currently using the mass produced D211 GP racers and am very impressed So Anyone got any feedback on the D212?
My Dunlops Sportsmarts but not after road riding, and god I can't wait until the Summer. the Sportsmarts are excellent
i have used a few sets of the dunlop d212 gp, they are excellent for trackdays and fast road, but as you would expect the mileage is awful.
this is how it looked after 800miles but if its a trackday tyre you are looking for this is the best tyre i have ever used, beats super corsas, racetecs, qualifiers,
