According to PB's two testers the Pirelli Rosso Corsa is the Tyre to have! http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/11709.htm
Gonna look up the M5's as i'm on Interact's at the moment and ive already warn the rear out after around 1000 miles. I'll add a pic later. Whats this about wales in august?
Can't say how anyone can fault them for performance they are the nuts, just didn't last very long! Sure the Scottish roads didn't help so you might get a couple k out of the rear.
Prob is the mags tend to vote for the tyre that he manufacture stuff the staffer bikes on... They all seem to prefer their own brand as a favourite Made me laugh how FB vote the Bridgestone as the bests ever, yet they are 'kindly been given bridgestones' as there control tyre for the sportsbikes shoot out six pages along... Lol
About 2000 miles ish planned (Germany, Italy, Austria). I've run with Pilot Power 2CTs over the last few years, and get about 2k miles out of a back and 4k miles out of a front. Michelin claim the Pilot Power 3 last longer.
Even Mark at BSD said to me that they will not last long. He also told me he could pick my next tyres for me so I can get more mileage. On the plus side, most of my riding is 40 mile blasts and due to work and family (partner has long term illness) I only get to ride once or twice a week. So I might if I am lucky get 50 rides out of them..........at least they should be good grippy rides. Next time though I will get some that last longer.
Michelin pilot power 3's on my blade have done 4000miles, and counting...! Around 1.5mm left before reaching the wear bar just off the centreline. Grip is still incredible!! I'll be getting another set of these next month. For comparison, I've had 2,500 and 2,300 miles respectively out of two Bridgestone S20 rears and replaced the front and second rear with Dunlop Sportsmarts, which then lasted 7,000 miles. Now onto the Michelins and I'm not changing to anything else now! Wet and dry grip is immense; especially the feedback in the wet. The bike slides controllably as if there's a wide 'band' between 'just starting to let go' up to 'oh, its really gone now!' so you know where you stand with them! Sam
sorry, shipmate. missed this. just going to visit a friend. hoping to be sucking rabbits over the Beacons to the mid-Welsh coast.
With our roads in South Of France, lot of twisties, best compromize for agressive road and newbie trackday rider, is on Dunlop catalog : d211 and sportsmart. Sportsmart is wonderful in every way , mileage ( !!! ), wet an dry grip are impressive for this mileage tyres, on my bla de with personal ohlins set up 6500 kms. But when summer arrive, i prefer D211. mileage/2 : 3000 kms with the rear , front tyres is like Highlander, it never dies !!!! lol Less mileage but a lot of porn grip on dry and hot road, but if you want this crazy grip you ve to ride with 1.5 / 1.8 maximum bar on rear on the road not more or you loose grip and all the advantages of their tyres. You don't make extra Kilometers with high pressure. D211 kill supercorsa on every way, with the same bike my old s1000rr or my actual blade, supercorsa died before 1500 kms ....... d211 after 2900 ...... and more grip !
Just came across this thread. IMHO, I would go with the Pirelli Diablo supercorsas sc2. Absolutely awesome on the road and even better on the track. They are awful in the wet and I wouldn't entertain riding in the slightest down pour but in the dry, once they're warm, they stick like shit to a blanket. I've used them on all my bikes and wouldn't use anything else. They take a little while to warm up. Most blades run a 190 wide tyre on the rear but unfortunately Pirelli have stop making them so you have the option of going down to the 180 or up to the 200. I went up to the 200 on my blade and it's the best move I made. Bike handles better than ever and they really fill you with confidence in the corners. Obviously this all comes at a price, meaning you don't get great mileage out of them but it's a small price to pay to stay upright when giving it some stick. Everyone has different requirements for their tyres and if you're simply looking for great handling then these are by far the best. I'm a fair weather rider so suit me down to the ground and I always manage to get two rear tyres out of one front.
Currently on the Dunlop D211 GP's and they are really really impressive. Loving them. A set up from the sportsmarts. I will be trying the Pirelli Diablo supercorsas mainly as I like to try diffrent tyres and have a good view on what is best for my style of riding
I ran Pirelli Supecorsa for years loved them, however recently fitted Dunlop GP racers to the blade and they are far superior. Only disadvantage with Dunlop is the carcas is far stiffer than the Pirelli which means if hit a bump in the road particularly hard the bike bounces whereas the Pireli would have absorbed the bump.
It might be disadvantage on the road but on the track is a big advantage. Gives you more feel if the tyre is loosing grip.
this just goes to show that everyone is different, what works for one person may not work for another. Depends on your requirements, but if there are any suggestions on tyre that could be better than the supercorsas I'm all ears. Nothing worse than not being able to trust your tyres to keep you shiny side up.
Well said and agree, a suggestion or experience of a tire is just that> I only want to try the supercorsa as I have heard so many good things about them
You said earlier mate you've run them on all your bikes? Nice having a tyre you trust... But what else have you tried before going back to the SC's?
