I'm just about to stick a new pair of boots on mine. Looking at Pilot Power 2CT. Only question is whether to go for the 50 or 55 section rear. I know a lot of you prefer that but I'm just wondering if there are any known issues with fitting one to a RR4?
It's strange, quite subtle from a 50 to 55, go from a 55 to a 50 and it's like, wtf! This rear is flat?? Lol
But you will still feel the cobbled roads through them. We are riding on slicks down here in the promise land.
I will be picking up Some Dunlop D211 Gp tomorrow. I don't need them yet but could not turn down a good offer on a last pair a friend had. Once I get them fitted and some road and track miles on them I will report back Dunlop Motorcycle - Tyres Sportmax GP Racer D211 Medium front and Endurance rear
Quite a strong statement mate? how come? i've had the sports smart previous to current and first impressions were they were excellent, long term not quite as good as people had been making out or I initially agreed with but generally a fantastic tyre. be interested to hear your view?
I also had a bad experience with Dunlops. Can't remember which model and I know that tarring all Dunlops with the same brush is borderline stupid but it has coloured my thoughts of the brand.
I think that it's been said a million times before but tyres are a very personal preference-type thing. I was chatting to the owner of the tyre place just half an hour ago while he fitted my new 2CTs. He said that they were the best tyres he's used on his bike. He's had Michelin Power Pures on for 300 miles and he reckons he's taking them off and going back to 2CTs.
From my experience : I thought like Chris after having qualifiers on my speed triple. but after the reviews I had of the Sportsmarts and running them the past year has changed my mine. done 3k+ on the rear and still meat left on them, 3 track days and they help up well and felt great on track. and 1 euro tour. The Sportsmarts have been excellent. And after hearing great things about the D211's for more track then road and some great reviews I wanted them.
I think mine were D208 if I remember right. Really wasn't impressed and like I say I guess that, daft as it is, once you've had that bad experience........
