If you're comfortable on your own then that's ok to do that. Riding in a small group will help you improve more though and if the group know your level and are a decent bunch, they won't tear arse off and leave you stranded. I actually prefer riding with others, There is rarely any racing each other. Yeah ok a couple at the front may disappear but will always wait furher up the road. I find I go out more when I know there is a group, it motivates me. If I'm on my own I don't have as much fun. But to get the most out of my new bike I will be venturing out on my tod a lot more, looking forward to some summer evening blasts!!
I did mention to @blink the other day that we're a nice group to ride out with if and when he feels like it. He said he was worried about being fast enough but I said that wasn't a problem when you were leading
@blink I tend to ride alone, partly because I am billy no mates, and partly because I prefer it. When I do ride with others I tend to be a bit fussy who I will ride with, if I don't trust them I don't ride with them. iI they do go blasting off I let them go but the good ones will normally hang around at a sensible place and normally don't have too long to wait. If they think I am too slow, well let them go and do your own ride and just remember next time not to bother. Speed is relative, I'm slower than some, faster than others, sometimes I want to potter, and sometimes I want to be a hooligan. Your bike, your licence, your life, so your choice.
