Well, today while working on a roof I uncovered several issues of MCN dated 1985/1988. Headline in the 1985 issue was "Roberts returns to Cagiva" and you could buy a new Honda CBX550 for £1995!! The bike of the moment was a Kawasaki GP1000RX.
Sat in work today with the sun outside and thought to myself, a couple of weeks and I'll be back out on the bikes. Honestly can't wait now. Going to pick up new car in the morning, drop off wheels to get powder coated, then heading into Halfords to get oil for the Fireblade and Blackbird, some autoglyms cleaning kit, and then off for some dinner for dads 60th bday.
should show you my fathers collection...has thousands of bike magazines including all the first editions of motorcycle mechanic, superbike magazine etc he just wont throw any out
Chucked a sponge in the general direction of the bike and that's all that was needed for it to sail thru its MOT. Hadn't even started it in a couple of months. Can't beat Honda build quality!
Did a 24,000 mile service on a mate's FZ1. Not finished yet, waiting for new shims for exhaust valves.
Had a great ride out today around Cheshire called at J&S at Delamere, loads of bikers there. Lots of bikes on roads, it was great. When I got home bike was still clean cant believe it.
Being lucky enough to live right on the estuary we stepped out this afternoon and walked to the end of the canal to the Turf Hotel, open today for the first time this year. Only accessible by boat, shanks, bicycle or Rebecca Addlington giving you a piggy back but it was still full in the sunshine. Took loads of photographs of the mugs living illegally on their moored boats at the canal side, that'll shit them up, plus the wintering geese, swans, herons and curlews. Blew the cobwebs out nicely plus got a nice 5 mile walk in. Now for steak and chips to replace any lard I might have inadvertently exercised off.
Took Grandson to adventure park, nice afternoon in the sun. Noticed a few bikes out, but plenty of salt lurking on the roads.
Bit late. But yesterday went to London Bike Show and bought tcx s-race goretex boots from Harper's and heated grips, tail tidy and Averto tray from R&G. Chatted to Si Hargreaves and Chippy Wood from Bike magazine. Top chaps.
Twin Olympi. When you absolutely, positively have to toast every marsh mallow in the packet... ...accept no substitute.
Picked up new car. Went to drop of wheels at powder coaters, bought fresh oil for the fireblade and blackbird, and not long in from dads 60th birthday dinner. Well stuffed, and now sitting down to a chilled bottle of wine. All in all a good day.
