Spent the day with the family at the National Air Museum at East Fortune! Great fun day with the highlight being the Spitfire if I'm honest! Truly Iconic!
Spring cleaning in the bikes home mid morning, I hovered the carpet mopped the floor had to tidy some tools up that inevitably get spread around when using them on non blade related jobs, a quick trip out to B&Q and I also got around to replacing the compressor I previously killed, after installing it a quick trial Which gave a few hiding spiders a blowjob they wern't expecting.
My dad worked for Wm Oxley a sub division of Firth Rixson made the turbine blades for those bad boys Firth Rixson - Home Still based in Sheffield
When I was at school I had an evening job cleaning offices at Howmet where they forged blades. To a budding geek it was like alladins cave.
I'm currently in a project involving a certain aircraft engine maker. Should be interesting when finished
Colin, you tease... I'm just looking at my copy of Stanley Hooker's autobiography "Not Much of an Engineer" and there's a great photograph looking down at Ark Royal with sea kings and harriers on the deck and he was involved in the design of every engine in the picture, including the ship. We used to have loads of people like that. Now we've got Ant and Dec.
It's sickening to see how de-skilled we as a country have got. Just because we have made some great things in the past doesn't mean we should become complacent, I see it all the time in my work. Though I have got to say certain companies out there are still flying the flag and have some amazing guys behind the scenes. I'm not teasing about the project. I just can't say too much.
The first thing I've done today is just won a frank Thomas 1 piece suit. I love ebay items ending at this time of day. Sorry guys. You can carry on about engines now
Yesterday i managed to stick my eye lids together..... False eye lashes are a nightmare don't bother with them fellas..... they look good but the pain isn't worth it.
Just been in my freezing garage giving the underside of the bike a good wipe over with wonder wipes and another good spray of silicone for the salty roads later .Plenty of frost here and summer gloves ''yummy''.

Began stage one of "Operation make the car not look like a fecking skip". 2 hours of hoovering, polishing, leather feeding and GT 85ing all the different seals for the roof panels. You'd think a car that the roof comes off of would be easier to clean inside I felt like Lambeth or Jolly Giant practicing extreme gynaecology. A quick lunch then the assault on the north face of the shitty outside begins. If I can get a deep wash done and the weathers not too bad for the next couple of weekends I should get a good polish and wax on it to start the year without apologising for the state of it.
