What did I do today.....sat in 10 fcuking hour planning meeting; I can’t believe talking about sod all can take so long, if I had been chairing it, it would have been done and dusted by lunchtime. What am I doing tomorrow evening, hosting my annual winter warmer dinner in a private dining room at The Delaunay on the Aldwych London and guess what.... the are no trains running on the east coast main line…..perfect. I could drive and not drink but would you want to host a dinner with a load of piss heads and stay sober. No, I didn’t think so. It’s going to take some doing and a very convoluted and expensive journey to get there and an even more expensive journey home. Do I give a sh1t. What am I doing Friday, sleeping it off.

Got THE phone call from Doble Motorcycles telling me my ABS problematic blade is all fixed. fairing refitted (i moaned it was shabby), callipers cleaned and unseized from road salt, New exhaust because of corrosion. They reckon its 'problems over!' as long as I stop washing the road sat of with warm water as I made it worse!! So Im heading off at 5.30am on the choo choo so I can be back for work at 9.00am. because I dont want to wait til saturday! Fingers crossed this time its sorted.
I didn’t invite him Giv, I wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire, he has cost me enough heartache. Having to close our London Service Centre and make most of our fleet operations personnel redundant because of his personnel selfish agenda weighs very heavy on my heart. I have a big problem being in the same city as him let alone in the same room. I do, however, have the Managing Director of surface transport on my table, now that is a guy I have know for many many years and I really do like, and despite what he might say in the public domain is in total agreement with me.

Yes Mate, sorry. I have re read your post, I was talking to L, trying to reply to a text and post all at the same time, multi tasking is not one of my strong points, in answer to your question. No, I don’t think I can qualify even though I wriggle about within the greasy wheel of transport power. For one thing I don’t have enough hair and despite what you, my forum buddies might think, I couldn’t come up with half the bullshit that man spouts without an official speech writer. Above all I like to sleep at night with a clear conscious which I don’t think is part of the job description. So, on that basis alone . I am out.
My wife reckons she can multitask. Personally I think that doing a job badly while simultaneously bitching about it isn't the ame thing.
You have to admit though its not to shabby down your way lots of travel ,good hotels , lovely wife to come home to ! Might be worth taking a chill pill and just pick out the good bits and enjoy (just an observation from up north)

Giv, you have a valid point but every coin has two sides. The down side is its not a Monday to Friday 9 to 5, a general lack of sleep, non stop stress resulting in living with high blood pressure and as for the lovely Ling, you want to deal with the war zone when I fall through the door at 3/4 am on Friday morning !!. But you’re quite right the pay is not bad, and my pension is in quite good shape so it’s not all bad and I will retire early. But bear in mind it’s a hard pill to keep swallowing when this career cost me a 20 year marriage resulting with me no longer living with my kids and very nearly cost me my life. It’s not all a bed of roses. If I had known then what I know now would I have swapped it for a normal job and a normal life, in a heart beat Giv, in a heart beat. We make our bed and we have to lie in it. I am lucky I got a second chance and that L works in the same industry so she knew exactly what she was getting into when we got together but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t rip me for toilet paper when I step over the very fine line. Be grateful and thankful for what you have and don’t wish for what others have as it might not be all it seems on the surface. Having said that I wish I was Casey Stoner.
