Must admit the heat shield really does finish off the bike. I wonder if it will fit my Akrapovic?

The stock CBR 08-11 one is really just a big collector box (which contains the cat and various channels & flaps).
Aftermarket ones are either an S-bend or just a straight pipe.

I am currently making a decat pipe for a CB1000R. If anybody interested I can look into making one for a Fireblade, ie get rid of that enormous 6 Kg slab of steel under the bike and make it more like a pre-cat exhaust system???

Is that a really shiny Hardley Ableson...........................
I've got a full Akrapovic on my '08 and there is such a slight BHP advantage over their slip on on this model that i dont think that its worth it.

Bikeracer 1098, I will be in touch when I get the decat completed. If you go for a different silencer than the Leo Vince, I will need to know the I/D of the inlet and what angle it fits to the decat at???

Does anyone know what the difference is if any with the Akrapovic slip on exhausts for the abs v non abs mode?

Keeping an eye out for them on flebay seen one of the road legal ones with the cat and the valve but not sure if it fits all from 08 on or just the non abs ones.
Maybe as its the road legal one the valve is in a slightly different place or something??

Picture of the Akrapovic in question http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250807409076&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Been on there web site and its still not clear to me it looks like they should all fit but they list one for abs and one for non. I know the abs model has less room around the headers by the rad but that does not matter as I am only thinking of a slip on not the full system. Mine is the abs model by the way.

I think most other slip ons that are straight through fit all models 08 on but the Akrapovic road legal one with the cat/valve is a bit different

Think I have found the difference with a bit more digging. Looks like the cable for the exhaust valve is different probably longer for the abs model as the servo is further away on the tale. Could change the cable maybe can't see it being to difficult but only worth the hassle if I got it for a good price though.
Unless someone can tell me otherwise

Probably just look out for a normal s bend straight through type slip on instead will be easier.

I may be wrong... but if you get the Akra, there is no need for the cable anyway so shouldnt make a difference.

Pictures are always better so this should explain my findings
It depends which Akrapovic you get the road legal version has the s bend with the cat and the valve.
Non abs cable part no P-HF311 abs cable part no P-HF389 thats the only difference I can find.

They also do a normal straight through s bend type which fits all models.
    like this

I will probably keep an eye out for one of the straight through types from any of the good manufacturers (like Yoshi, Leo Vince, Arrow, Akrapovic etc etc)
Its been a busy morning scouring the web finding out the differences
