It was about -5 and I think he was the only greyhound/whippet out without a coat but he hates them and just goes on strike if I put it on
Yeah, wind down here making it feel very cold, but I’ve hurt my ankle at the perfect time and can’t go out My missus bought a coat for one of our labs and he just suffers in silence, poor lad.
it was only -3 for me and simba this morning at 6am I nearly froze but he was happy as. we did get back into bed for a warm up and cuddle though.
I think we have him for at least another week and I already know I'm going to be in a right mood when he's gone . better get some projects flipped for puppy money !
Unfortunately I doubt you will need to save up much as fear there are going to be shit loads of dogs looking for new homes once covid sorted and people realise they cant just bugger off on holiday on a whim when you have a furry friend. When everyone back working normally and travel restrictions get lifted I think a number of charities may become overwhelmed
nail hit on the head. when we were looking, it was astounding the amount of 3-6 month old pups for sale. Most with “bought for my children but they’re bored of him/her now/can’t handle them”, “selling because I’m back at work and no longer furloughed” I had wanted a dog for years and always held off because when I was single, I knew I couldn’t give the time, attention and love that they would deserve. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of people don’t seem to think of the commitment ahead and only think of the next month (if that) It’s a vicious cycle/business really. And I guess I’m a hypocrite for buying a pup and not rehoming. I see breeders trying to put in rehoming clauses whereby any buyers who wish to rehome a pup has to give the pup back to breeder free of charge (yeah right, especially when they’re charging 2-4k a pup). And then the shitty owners who try to flip them for a profit. When I was looking at Shiba’s, I saw plenty of litters at the 2.5k per pup mark and then a month after they were ready to leave, you’d see 3 month/12 week old pups listed for 3k+
A friend up my streetost his German shepherd about 6 months back (old age) and then started looking for another dog. He was aghast at the costs and attitudes of breeders so feck em and has just received a lovely girl about 5 months old from Romania! She's was a street born pup and a charity got her shipped over all in for about £250. She is settling in lovely and while a bitsa dog she is just gorgeous.
The Romania thing is often a scam for stolen dogs, and dogs imported illegally. If it was chipped he should have it scanned by a Vet to make sure it ties up with what is recorded for that chip.
we very nearly got an pup from Dubai. it was at first 250 then went up too 500 after pics and video calls ect and Mrs and my lad loved it. we were told it was fine with cats and kids ect then on call where I was about to pay she said he wasent house trained as had been a street dog. I said so what you have advertised and told me isnt true then. I pulled out my lad was gutted . he had a picture of the dog on his phone ect . they looked all legit but obviously not. I've had 4 rescues before and I'm sorry I want a dog I can train up and isn't mental for once .
