Yes - epic highs and even the lows (snow storms in June, WHOLE day in pissing rain in Germany for example) not that bad on reflection Awesome photos of it in various colours and locations! The cost per mile in depreciation of low mileage bikes is huge compared to mine
20K seems to be the mileage at which point people become put off and bikes get harder to sell. The bike may have been cherished and over serviced but it does become a barrier and people will consider another with lower mileage. Think a lot of the time we are all a little obsessed with the mileage of a replacement bike or car where in reality if they've been looked after it will be fine for thousands of miles. I've got customers that have 2010 and 11 bikes that have as little as 400 miles on that they are proud about because they think it will add value and help to sell, it won't what's the point. You've spent all that money on it so why not use it and get some value for money it won't make any difference if it only has 400 miles on it, well it will it will make it harder to sell in my opinion as bikes like to be used, they don't do well sitting around for long periods of time and this will put people off.
I m asking as wondering if worth trading in at end of this year and buying another blade to keep residual value fairly reasonable due to being newer and lower mileage. Not done the figure but wondering of there is a point where the cost of replacement for a newer model becomes less than the deprication of keeping a high miler which will have increased running costs and lower residual value.
2004 r1 45k 2011 blade had 12k in 18months before it went to the track Own them to use them IMO. Only nuts and bolts, the memories and fun I've got from mine are worth every stone chip! Lol I tend to buy a bike and write the money off, when its time to buy again, just keep it lol. If I get any money trade in, happy days! Ha ha. But I've usually broke it by that point
For prices guide mate picked up a 2011 ZX10 for £4k yesterday, private sale with 26k on the clock - some very minor marks / damage on a couple of panels (gravel damage where it fell over, not track day into kitty litter mash up) Bike was on ebay and was there for a good few days before my mate made an offer and got it. So although that sounds cheap it had got him from Carlise to Manchester on a regular basis for a few year so earned its keep (no idea if that was his daily commute or weekly)
I've done 13k on my 08 from brand new, like Mr B I would avoid stupidly low mileage bikes to many questions to be answered unless you know the owner
9000 miles on my RR6, it had 3K on it when i got it two years ago. I do not commute on it or go for days out, just 30 to 40 mile dashes. I have decided that from this year on I am going to ride as much as possible and make time for a ride even if there are other things I should be doing.
I also have an RR5 which I bought from new, it has 42,000 miles on the clock but I've only used it on track for the last two and a half years! Still goes well despite the mileage and very little servicing other than oil and filter change.
Bought this 10 plate when it was 2 years old, put about 18K on in last 18 months. Value does not matter, it pays for itself in around 3 years of commuting, anything that comes back is a bonus.
