Went sunny this afternoon, so got the bike out after work and we had a ride round ending up at Lymm Dam. No pics as I’d left my phone at home by accident, but if hasn’t changed much since I used to go fishing there as a kid with my dad and brother. EDIT - Lifted the image from my Helmet Cam
Its the first time that massive bumbag of his has had daylight in it since last year ....forking out 3 quid for a can of artisan pop
ICame across a camera van on the way to Hawes, wasn't sure if he had got me so I turned around and went back and had a word with him,,,,,, he said I got away with it,,,, we'll see. Anyway came across this 30 year old NSR in Hawes
I did just the same a few years ago over Shard Bridge at Hambleton. I was making rather good progress at the time and was somewhat concerned upon seeing the van at the last minute… Like you, I couldn’t face the 2 weeks wait by the letter box, so I went back to ask the van people. They looked a bit worried as I approached them (perhaps less nice people had approached them in the past?) but after a polite chat they just said that they were mainly looking at their ANPR for bad people and weren’t bothered about me, especially as they only had a front facing camera and couldn’t have identified me anyway!
First ride out on new bike. 300 mile round trip. Scotland via Shap, Hartside, Alston, Kielder Forest crossed into Scotland headed east to Jedburgh and home via Hexham, Hayden Bridge and Alston, Shap. Weather was perfect. And I only ran out of fuel once. Luckily a BMW GS rider came to my assistance he had a fuel can in one of his enormous panniers. He went to fetch me some fuel.
I saw two guys on matching black CBR650's or whatever they were, also matching kit and black hoody's that had Photo'something printed on the back! Anyone know who they are?? Presume it is something like biker pics?
What sort of route did you take up there from down our way? Quite fancy that myself but don't want the slog up the M6
Its not that much of a slog, I'll do it with you and also get a free brew off Mark!!! If hes offering, you do not wanna pass that up!!!! More chance of platting piss normally
Cross country through Roby Mill, Appley Bridge, Wrightington and Eccleston to Leyland then on the m6 at 28 and off at 30. Over passed Clitheroe and then up through Sawley, Wigglesworth, towards Rathmell. Across the A65 towards Giggleswick, bare off to Settle. Then up through Langcliffe, Stainforth, Selside to Ribblehead. Came back through Chapel Le dale, ingleton. Over to the bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale and then the A683 through Tunstall, Melling and Claughton. In to Caton and then left towards Quernmore, on to Bay Horse and down to Broughton. M55 then M6 to get back off at Leyland and down the A49 to Wigan
Had a nice run upto the Ribblehead Viaduct today. Went up over Rivington Pike first, down to Belmont then M65, M61, M6 upto Jct 34. Then A683 to Ingleton, then B6255 to Hawes, Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale, 5 mins at Devils Bridge then back down the M6 all the way home. Would have gone cross country on the way home but it was getting way too hot and I had to get back. Nice day, don't think I'd swap my runs down to Bala for it but certainly made a nice change. New MT09SP is outstanding. Fireblade is keeping its powder dry for the trip to Spain on Sunday!
