Happened upon a bike meet in St Helen’s tonight at the Park Road Cafe (couple of hundred yards down the A58 from the new Lidl) quite busy and a decent lot. Spotted this gem that someone obviously loves On every Wednesday until the end of October apparently
Four days and 1138 miles across to Co. Donegal via Cairnryan with some great roads on scenery in Ireland and a couple of boring runs up and down the M6 for the ferry. Very lucky with the weather, only getting rain at Dumfries on the way home. Bike now filthy and in need of a little TLC.
Saw the mirror and jumped to conclusions - mind you I had expected the damage to be more severe/extensive from what happened. No matter, good to see you getting out and about
Looks like I’ll be syphoning some 95 out of the wife’s car (my car is diesel before anyone has a go) to top off the bike tank for tomorrow’s excursion. No detriment to her as it’s a phev and she only does short trips (so charges it up every 2 or 3 days).
Trip to Hastings yesterday through loads of Kent villages and loads of country B roads, then over to Rye and Camber. I found a different road (through Pett Level in case you were wondering) from Hastings to Rye which is great. 20 miles of M20 on the way home though…boo, motorways are crap. @Kentblade do you have to pay to park in that car park by the dock/harbour in Rye where the bikes congregate?
Headed out to the coast, Market Rasen, Horncastle, Cadwell, Mablethorpe Cleethorpes and currently sat in a Stabucks in Louth letting aches and pains subside before heading home over the Wolds. Lots of idiots out today some on the road, lots queuing for petrol/diesel.
So the Sunday ride over towards Rivington with the plan being to get over towards Belmont failed as the roads round there were all closed for an Ironman competition. So ended up heading north towards Chorley then across to Leyland and round the back way cross country to Southport through Croston. Fair few bikes about at the pier and we enjoyed a stroll. Came back via Burscough (where we stopped for a late lunch) and then up over Dalton Bank. It stayed warm & dry, good roads and not much traffic. Even got some 99 RON at a Tesco out Euxton way.
@hitch - Never had to pay for the car park on Rye dock, you just ride up the side of the barrier. Hope this helps.
This is where I got the info - Facebook Hartside Cafe page. dated 25/9/2021 Hi Guys, This is such a difficult post for me but tomorrow will be my last day at Hartside. We will close tomorrow & with a very heavy heart I have to let the dream of building Hartside go. In the last few years many events have conspired against me and my sons, and anyone in business will understand what I mean. All I have to say is I have never met so many genuine, lovely, amazing people & we really appreciate your loyalty & support (weather permitting). I personally will really miss our regular customers & the incredible vibe of Hartside. It has been an honour to be a custodian of such an amazing location & I am genuinely sorry that we could not give you that spectacular cafe in that potholed carpark that Hartside deserves. Thank you all for your support Dawn x
On a very rare day off managed a quick late afternoon blast over to Whitby and back home via Sandsend and Staithes and home before the light went probably be my last ride out for the year though
