My mates misses has been saying she fancied going out on the back of the bike for a while. So this year when the insurance was up in July I got pillion cover included and tonight she came with me over to Southport. Went easy and kept checking she was okay. She was a natural at it and did really well. When we got back she had a grin on like a Cheshire Cat and was telling her fella if she was younger she’d have been going for her test. I said you’re never too old A picture paints a thousand words......she loved it
This was me taking out my niece for the first time on a bike Came back and wanted to go again but a lot further Loved every minute of it By the time we had finished I think she was trying to get her knee down
Went on another Kent odyssey. This time found a cracking road from Borough Green through Igtham via Shipbourne to the A26...roughly along the red line that I drew (badly). Only a 50MPH most of the way but it's real nice sweeping left and right.
Did circa 170 miles today. Up to Devils Bridge, Kendal, A6 over Shap, Penrith, back to Windermere via Kirkstone Pass, then back past the Bridge before home. Busier than expected though, kids everywhere so obviously not all back in school as yet.
Came up to Rivington Barn today and it must be over 12 months since I was last here. Was surprised that they have stopped the bikes from going on the courtyard area. So now there are bikes dotted here there and everywhere. No where near as many bikes as there used to be.
Went on that same Kent ride again today...it's an epic road. Sadly when I got to the 90 degree right hander there were two cop cars ahead which meant riding at a fucking snails pace for 15 mins
Full day out on the SP on some cracking Leicestershire/Notts roads.....with 2 more SP's....a Blade....Gixxer....s1000rr and an HP4.......... perfect biking day in every way
I’m getting worried for you mark Your pictures lately are Billy no mates There’s lozzy with loads and you bless all on your todd
Came to Southport today - weathers great and the views in both directions off the pier impressive What a beauty
Finally managed a full lap of the Lakes today. With blue skies overhead but damp roads underfoot I did my well ridden route up to Devils Bridge. Not many bikes about but stopped for a brew. Then took the A683/4 up to Kendal, quick top up of the tank and then the epic A6 over Shap, up to Penrith. Then swung a left along the A66. Not the most interesting of roads but caught up with a P reg Blade and tagged along for 20 miles or so. The old girl sounded sweet and the rider gave me a thumbs up when he turned off eventually, heading towards Windermere. I carried along to the coast, down the A595 past Whitehaven and Sellafield. Was getting a bit peckish so stopped for a brew and a burger. Roads were drying nicely by this point and I took full advantage, eventually stopping at Newby Bridge for more juice. Once I got back to the M6 I was tempted to go straight on for the Bridge but it was getting on for 3pm by this stage so thought I’d best take the direct route. Jumped on the motorway for a few junctions and then back via Cockerham to home, sunny Blackpool. 250 ish miles in total. Bike was filthy when I got back. It’s had a quick wash, I’ll do it properly when I can be bothered, which is probably never but it’s the thought that counts. Love riding this time of the year, when you can feel the seasons changing. I enjoy hot June days as much as anyone else but there’s something special about getting out on a long ride when it’s hit and miss what conditions you’re going to encounter. Fab day.
