I was there too yesterday, about 12.30 and 15.30. There was an absolutely stunning HRC, tricked up for fun, anyone on here?
What colour Blade was you on Daveyboy? I was there pretty much all day on my Blade - 2010 Black & White with Akra can. The bike in question is a member from here, I spoke to him on the Sat & Sun and he confirmed he was a member but he doesn't like to post. It was very trick though
Merlin, I was on a RR5 Repsol with an Arrow end can, I had a n all black Berik one piece on. I parked directly opposite that HRC bike, it was mint! We always call in there on the way to and from Skegvegas. PM me your number and next time we are ther I'll give you a bell. Would be good to meet some peeps from this forum.
Daveyboy, I had a good old look round your bike - very nice You have a PM with my contact details, I'm always there so if you cant get hold of me on my mob I usually sit at the bench next to the cafe. I wear an RST 1 piece black & white with RAF roundel knee sliders.
Some smug Porsche driver thought he had it made when he went to overtake 10 bikes in a row & two caravans in front of the woods. Must have been doing well over a ton to get passed them all, unlucky for him though is that the speed trap on that van is calibrated to get you from the first entrance into the woods. Funny old thing was that when I left the woods he had being pulled by a bike copper
When I met you at willy woods merlin there was a blade that left on one wheel and when I left the speed van was up the road, I wonder if he got court? I always watch my speed any where near a bike meet!
Please!!! I'm trying to be a grown up about it, but men dressed in leather meeting in a place they call "Willy Woods" is making my double entendre disease bring me out in a rash! I don't know how much longer I can keep from nudging and winking twice. Arghhhhhhh!
Given that I know what you west country people are like we should not abbreviate the work Willingham Woods by using the gigglesome word Willy. Sorry Ken I will remember to take in to account demographics but just to reassure you take a look at the site: www.willinghamwoods.com/
I did. I looked yesterday. To try and stop my chuckle muscle from spasming, and it looks brilliant, honest. But all I kept seeing in my mind's eye was...
Re the camera van, had to laugh, as I approached the woods ( and the van), some old dear on a push bike was giving me the thumbs down warning me of the van. Lol bless her! Was sat on the bank, opposit the kiosk. Bike was at far right near the exit with a red white & blue early blade next to it.
I know the feeling Dazza, on my approach to the Woods I was past by at least 10 bikers and not one gave me the thumbs down or a flash of lights. It took a scooter rider to notify me of the cop van What is it with bikers these days, there just doesn't seem to be any decency or etiquette towards fellow bikers?
Road number The "Dunno Numbered Road to the A52" will be the B1176 (first left after you go under the railway bridge on the A151 East from Colsterworth). It's a mega road with some nice up and down blind crests and off camber bends. You'll rarely get past 3rd gear on it. Went along it again last night after work (wanted a long ride to lead into darkness to judge the benefit of upgrading my headlights last week). Be careful on that road (some surprise bends and it is frequented by unmarked police bike - grey BMW with LED blue lights - riders of it nod to you and don't seem to mind if you follow them at a good pace, but I'm sure their sense of humour would evaporate if you went past them...).
From Grantham to Willingham Woods: Grantham to Sleaford A607, large roundabout before Sleaford take the Sleaford Bypass next roundabout A15 to Lincoln. The A15 is not the best road, bit straight nothing going on really what you are aiming for is the road from Bardney to Wragby to Market Rasen. Off the A15 on the B1178 sign post Bardney, From Bardney to Wragby on the B1202. In Wragby the first junction is a small cross roads go straight on to the B1202 to Market Rasen. Once in Market Rasen you turn right at the first set of lights and follow the road out of town, say three miles or so and you will bump into Willy woods. I would be happy to meet up in Grantham, however, I’m not the quickest of riders and I might spoil you ride? Who is going Sunday and what time do you anticipate being at Willy Woods? Wear a red carnation and stand under the clock tower?
Carl, yes I intend to go. I can meet you along the way if you like. I'm not looking for a race (I'd lose!), so steady pace is fine for me.
