I'll take you guys word for it, I used to race in the wet, a wet autum race at Olivers mount with 6" of leaves lining the circuit sorts the men out form the boys, my bike gets winterised and put away, the the trials and motox bike comes out for the slippery stuff. Fair play for you guys who ride all year around your all hardcore, my bike would always be in bits getting cleaned, I like it spoltess. These days have long gone for me.
Had a quick 100 mile buzz around Aberdeenshire today but not on the Fireblade. FJR1300 has heated grips and much better wind protection plus tyres on the Honda are well past their best so easy decision.
Winter rides are ace - heated grips, few extra layers and head out in the sunshine on crisp dry days its good - just lots of water to wash the bike off on your return and some ACF 50 stuff. cold , dark damp roads I avoid - but high pressure generally = bone dry and sunshine
I've got heated grips on the blade... don't need a heated seat due to the heat-sink style that the bike is, you have hot thighs within 15mins if you want them or not!!
Hi Ro I to ride 365 days a year but for the price of a decent pair of boots or lid I got this of eBay £300 to be exact! She costs £50 a year to insure, £35 to tax and does a gazillion mpg! I've had her 4yrs now she never lets me down! This is me and her in action It's a known fact that newer Honda bikes headers and fastners are made out of Quafers and are utter shite in salty winter conditions! And with her being a 28yrs old CB1 starting life in Japan a stainless exhaust came as standard and she's as robust as a Tonka toy! It's just an other option! Having 400cc of baby Blade engine and 13.5k revs to play with about 55ish bhp weighing only 160kg with proper grippy commuting tyres equels Fun! Fun! Fun! and as cheap as chips to run! It also means my Blade stays pristine with no risk of damage in these bleak winter months
