I have the genuine honda workshop manual for the bike and goes into more detail than the haynes. If you need any extra info give me a shout.
I'm not aware of the starter clutch being a common issue.

LOL...Seem to be hacing trouble uploading pix- prob too big. Anyway- worked out what it was- the OEM brake light cable switch- all tied up- it has the Vortex resets so not in use.

Still no joy with things. Checked all the sparks- all firing fine. Fuel pump is working. Planning to check the alarm (Datatool s4)- although I wouldn't have thought it would turn over if there was a prob...

I'm no expert but I do know that some peeps on here have had problems with the lean sensor (in case it falls over it cuts the engine). I don't know where it lives on the bike but it may be the problem.

The bank angle sensor sits in the front cowl. I don't think the pump primes if that is at fault.

If you have a spark are you sure there is def fuel getting to the injectors? If you have both then it should fire.

I'd seriously be looking at your Datatool if it was me! These alarms and a few other can cause all sorts of issues when they go tits up! By the sound of things you have already checked the obvious so can rule out most of the original wiring and components that make the motor crank and fire and add the fuel.
