I was suposed to stop riding this year, but along came yorkshire gooner with a 2013 balde that I couldn't decline, so here I am again packing for my first beglium trackday tomorrow, sunday were off racing again, but this year I'm helping a team(drinking all their beer ), and not riding, although my leathers and lid are coming along, just in case ONce you've got the bug it's hard to get it out of you, you'll be doing track days until you find a wife that won't let you because she won't get holidays, and all the money goes to racing enjoy it while you can, I just wish I started earlier I might even look into coming over and doing a few rounds next year
Yeah I know that a mortgage and wife and kids will have to wait. I've even decided not to apply for a job that lets me work abroad. I was sooo slow at the weekend, but it really gave me the desire to get quicker and get up the grid! Its mate me realise how much I love it and how much better I can get with more practice!
that's what it is, practice and speaking to fellow racers that are faster and asking questions, I don't think there isn't an amateur racer that doesn't like sharing/talking about racing. Only the stuck up their own arse really fast ones won't give us amateurs a look You will learn more racing than if you were doing trackdays for the same amount of track time.... If you think your slow, what do the guys in novice think abnout themselves??? just enjoy yourself and set simple goals each trackday..... IE - at cadders try and get around as fast as you PB and if you do before your last day of racing, try and beat it.... I bet you'd be well happy if you did, even if you came in last
Well best I have managed on the R6 so far is a high 1.47 round cadders. Did 1.43 on the 750 so if I can get near that I'd be chuffed to bits.
you've only riden there once or twice on the R6, give it time put the ZX6 fairings on there with plenty of gaffertape Wedgie, no one would get a sniff of it hahahahaha

Never mind dude ......not the TV star yet. Found this but dates don't tie in for when your doing the tracks? http://www.hottrax-motorsport.co.uk/
Mate the pace is all relative, the fastest guys in novice group feel like superstars, the slowest guys in moto grande feel like they're slow, but they'd still fit in the fast group on a trackday, it's only because of the talent & experience of the guys in the racing series that you feel slow. Just remind yourself of the fact that they were lapping 3-4 seconds off race tuned litre superbikes... I bet if you ask those lads abut their racing career they'll tell you about their first race where they were right at the back or they dropped their bike on the starting grid etc. It's all part of the journey. If you were at the front straight off the bat, your first ever podium wouldn't feel even 1% as incredible compared to earning it over time & building your way up. You're literally living the dream right now keep it going
I just know what marks like, so quick to talk himself out of things when he doesn't realise that he's actually got the talent, he just needs to believe in himself more. Having said that he's become a lot more positive these days & has started reframing the situation when things don't go to plan every day is a school day buddy, even when things go wrong
