well just go out there and learn so you are better in the wet next time! what it's all about mate. got worse results this weekend than snet but learnt more and prob had more fun.
There are a few of us North West massive looking into a run over to Anglesey at the weekend - maybe even the odd box brownie may appear at some point too. Can you post up the days / times of your races when you have them as will help with any planning of logistics etc.
Team Army Endurance who I'm pit crewing at Anglesey (& hopefully racing for at Donny) are in the endurance - obviously. Both Wedgie and Tyke are on 600's but in different races.
At the moment I'm not going anywhere. Fan has gone on the transit and we've just managed to get it off. If wedgie doesn't have one he can send me (fingers crossed!!) Then its game over for anglesey. So fcuked off!!!!!
otherwise yorkshiregooner a buzz, he does cars and vans too good luck with getting it sorted and if you do good luck racing
I think he's got it sorted now - Wedgie sorted him out a fan and he's posted on Facebook that he's going.
When I have time I'll do a full write up but for now just going to past my facebook status Epic weekend!! To start from the beginning arrived at Anglesey on Thursday night after thinking I wouldn't make it with Terrence having a poorly viscous fan. Got out for testing on the Friday and it was pissing down!! Always hated the wet but managed to put in some OK laps while learning the circuit. Found out my front tyre had two big cracks in it so had to fork out 120 sheets for a new one!! Saturday I qualified 14th overall and had two wet but very fun races putting in a 1.20 well happy with that tbh. Today was dry as a bone (quite sunburt actually), again qualified 14th on the grid, race 1 was crash galore with a red flag and restart. Got away well on both starts but lost the rear going round peel corner due to according to Bob Bobster "Marquez Lean". Managed to get back out for the final race and finished this time with 10th overall and 8th in class, same result as yesterday so atleast I'm consistent!! 1.15 was the best time today. HUGE thankyou to all the lads who helped me out getting the bike through scrutineering just need to work out how I'm going to afford Donnington now, didn't expect to go through a brand new power cup rear in 30 laps haha. Top weekend thanks guys!! Rob Herbert Autoreclaim Car Parts Dave Wedge Jonboy McNally Owen O Show Richardson Thanks to all the blade lads for coming to show their support
You did look good in the dry today (and the wet on Saturday TBH). Sitting on the grid for 10 minutes probably didn't help much.
Yeah man gotta respect your enthusiasm and drive, specially after the off and you were looking well tidy as the second race went on. Good on ya mate! Me and al had a blast around anglesey on't way home and didn't get wet
Best pull my finger out and give my full run down then since wedgie is showing me up posting his.. Friday- Test Day Never been to Anglesey before and figured that it couldn't really get much worse with it being wet and me hating the wet! Went out in the first couple of sessions in the pissing rain and followed wedge around since he knew the place, must say it is a wonderful circuit. Had some fun little battles with wedge and although he claims I put him on the grass he should have really risk assessed his overtake beforehand Got to lunch time on the test day and a friend of mine and lee's spotted that I had a crack in my front tyre!! From the centre all the way round to the wall, so I thought feck this!! Not going out on that thing, came in and realised it had two cracks both sides. Whipped it off and coughed up for a brand new wet front (120 sheets!!) :/ Didn't get back out after that because the rain was coming down that hard they cancelled the rest of the day, must of been an inch of water the paddock was like a lake. Saturday Qualifying- Got out in a wet qualifying and tried to get back into the groove, managed to get round in 1.23 and put the bike on p14 on the grid, there were less riders here presumably because of the weather/location? 14 out of 18 wasn't the best but all the quick lads were still there just me and one other novice. Race 1- Got away well after shitting bricks for a wet start. Managed to get up with the front pack fairly well although the fast fast lads got away. Managed a best position yet for me p10 overall and p8 in class. Ne personal best in the wet of 1.20 Race 2- Go away probably better in this one again with a very damp track, round to the banking (turn 2) and 2 guys went off track which bunched everyone up and I nearly ended up with a mouthful of akrapovic exhaust from a zx6 in front!! By the time I got back on line and my shit together the pack had already got well away and I knew it would be silly crashing just trying to regain the bikes that were clearly out of reach. Still had a good battle with the guy in reach and got past him, think I finished a place further down than race 1 but was still very happy with my riding. Finishing in front of clubman riders and a national rider Sunday Woke up and the weather had been turned on its head, it was roasty and there was a big yellow thing in the sky. Went out in warm up on the dry tyres and put in a couple of laps to see what the conditions were like. Qualifying- Tried to really go for it in this as I knew it would be important, tagged on to a couple of fast boys and tried to stay with them, ended up putting it p14 on the grid again!!! Race 1- Really wanted to do well here and was mega up for it. Got away pretty decent on the start and was with the front pack going quicker than I'd done before. This race was crash city!! After around 2 or 3 laps it got red flagged and we were put back on the grid. Got away even better on the restart and was sticking with the front boys, got round to peel corner on lap 1 and lost the rear due to too much lean according to the guys watching. Snapped a clip on front brake lever and footpeg, mowed some grass too. Another rider came off at the exact same point a lap or two later. Awell got the bike back to the pits and me and all the other guys got to work on it. Managed to get it through scrutineering just in the nick of time, 10 minutes on the warmers and out for race 2! Race 2- Wasn't sure about this one due to not knowing how the bike felt after the crash. Entertained some of the lads watching by doing a nice big stoppie coming up to the grid start after the warm up lap The start was OK although not as good as race 1, was still gelling with the bike but managed to complete all 14 laps and finished p10 overall and p8 in class again so at least seeing some consistency. Managed to do a 1.15 which robinh73 said is going OK for first time there. Ran on twice at rocket trying to hold off one of the clubmans as I was suffering with serious brake fade. All in all this was my best weekend yet and I somehow keep managing to make big steps forward in pace every round, if you wanna improve as a rider feck trackdays off and go racing! Massive thankyou to everyone who helped me out getting the bike rideable again and special thanks to wedgie for keeping me supplied with smiles and beer all weekend! Roll on Donny lad!! Anybody know how I can get my leathers repaired? Went through the slider and leathers on last race!
