Yup now it's just getting back to my old self and better. I think with a clear head and less traffic I would of got close to my PB. But heyho that was after a full year on track this is after 1 trackday so hopes are high!
give it time mate, it'll come and you'll probably go under it this year..... you've lost about 1 second there on the mountain with your wheel that high
Can't believe no limits didn't have a word about that as that's a bit more than you standard power wheel but does look sweet .
TBF it was only going that high because I was trying to get air... one step at a time. Its hard to get enough speed up when you have someone cruising through bottom of the mountain looking for a nice spot to have a picnic!!! Should of booked fast really
Here are some of the one's that I took yesterday A little friendly rivally about who can wear out a new slider the most. It turns out that the heavier you are, the more you lean on your sliders. And one of my favourites. You can see how clear the day was. Even the moon was on show.
Yeah deffo worth the ride out, I only wish I had booked myself on Done the video now. The first 4 scenes are Tyke on track, the rest are bits of the ride back to Willy Woods with Dave & Jase, including a car v car aftermath at the end. I'm struggling to upload the animated GIF though and will need to figure out some online storage for around a 2Gb ZIP file as it's the easiest way to pop the photos across to you.
So after a very interesting day at cadwell... Got there last night and fought the wind for 90 minutes to finally get the gazebo up, got a good night's sleep for probably the first time since I started doing trackdays. Up this morning and got out feeling optimistic. Second session out and going well I came through gooseneck, and a combination of the wind and my line put me on the grass going downhill towards mansfield. I've checked my app on the phone and I left the track doing 138KPH which equates to 85mph on the grass!! Anyway kept it upright almost all the way down the hill then hit a bump and went over the handlebars putting my knee through the windscreen- That was literally the only damage apart from my knee and a load of mud in the air vents of my helmet where I full face planted the grass So got another screen off my mate and went back out enjoying the weather, rest of the day went without a hitch. Got down to 1.47 with 1.43 being the best I did on the gsxr 750 (omg loved that bike!!) I've basically come to the conclusion that I was spoilt with the last bike I had, it had full ohlins and some awesome brakes, dymag wheels... It turned perfectly and the R6 in comparison just seems so sluggish and numb. I've had the suspension set up but it still turns so slowly than what I'm used to. Might try and lift the forks up through the yoke a few mm and shorten the wheelbase, apparently a lot of people do this. Didn't time myself in the afternoon sessions but it felt quicker. HM quickshifter works a treat. Love it and it's worth every penny!! Silky smooth!! Don't like the new tarmac down at hall bends- it's like dragging your knee through jelly! All in all a great day and shaved off some more time and learnt more about the bike. There was a couple really quick lads in fast today and a BSB wildcard who was fun to follow (try). Oh and I NEED a slipperclutch, could not stop fishtailing going into mansfield!! This is gonna be expensive!!! Tyke out
glad to hear that your not injured mate, would have been a shame to have missed your first race. I've always dropped the front a few mm, start off with 2 or maybe 3mm, you realize when you've dropped it too much, it turns like crap, feels like your falling off in the corner if fishtailing to much have a look at chain tension, sometimes to tight does this as well, otherwise you'll have to try and find one on fleabay or so as they are kind of pricey new, but well worth the month..... HM is a great piece of kit isn't it, also well worth the money
Yeah starting to realise the bits that I need to be happy with the bike. So far my shopping list is- Upgrade fork internals Upgrade master cylinder Lightweight wheels Some on track tuition would probably help me a lot aswell There were some lads coming past today, only about 4 in the fast group who just seemed to take the corner so much quiker. Just made me think am I being a fanny?? Or is their bike setup properly with the right kit, probably a combination of both tbh.
combo of both tbh there will always be faster lads on better equipment. Isn't the suspension done on the r6? at least you've had a ride out before your first race.
